These pages should help you (although the first is a bit out of date):

2003 Audi S4 saloon (gone but not forgotten...)
1998 Audi A4 1.9TDi quattro Sport saloon
RS6 have chassis numbers starting from ......900001 to diffrence them from normal A6 derived models which shares the same 4B chassis code (they start from .....000001)
Yours would have been number 2331 of that model year. Your car was built on the 29th of January 2003.
2003 Model year production started in July 2002.
by end of July 2002 539 RS6 had been allocated chassis numbers. Not necessarily meaning built finished cars.
by end of August '02 608 RS6 total (only additional 69 allocated)
end Sept 02 = 903 in total allocated
end Oct 02 =1326 " "
end Nov 02 =1906
end Dec 02 = 2294
end Jan 03 = 2562 **
end Feb 03 = 3070
end Mar 03 = 3617
end Apr 03 = 4134
Model year production for 2003 finished at May 31st 2003. There is not final chassis number for the end of May (the final chassis number for 2003 model cars).
Best guesstimate would be somewhere around 4400.
** your car was probably allocated its chassis number in early January 2003 and was finally completed on the 29th.
Just ask at your local Audi centre for a printoff from Etka from your chassis number. It might help if you buy something to avoid the dissaproving scowls from the parts guy. (you need the parts deptartment for Etka printoffs).
This will give you all your equipment option codes.
Hope that helps
Lateknight - FYI, my VIN ends with 904895.
I'm kinda puzzled that the chasis numbers ended at around 904400. My RS6's VIN ends with 905166.

Ahh ! Good one.
It appears that the 2003 chassis codes for the North American market extended up until the end of January 2004 !!
European market cars started ...4B_4_ 900001 on the 1st of June 2003
On the Americanfigures there is a end figure for May 2003 = ...4B_3_904585 (4585)
and it continues ...
end June '03 = 4827
end Jul '03 = 5147
end Aug '03 = 5220
end Sept 03 = 5470
end Oct 03 = 5680
end Nov 03 = 5771
end Dec 03 = 5812
There is no accurate figure listed for end of Jan'04 (its listed as an approx' 6500, but looking at month on month build figures probably would not exceed 6000)
Just in case your interested:
DuckWingDuck your car was built on 11th July 2003.
AudiRS6JD your car was built on 8th September 2003.
Thanks Lateknight! Very interesting...That happens to be my birthday!

Lateknight - Many thanks! 11 July 03. Awesome, now I know when to get it a birthday cake!
Mine sounds like an early one, ....4520?
Thanks in advance.
Very interesting!
904450 over here, wonder if its a Taurus or a Gemini?
BTW, didnt there used to be a database with VINs of RS6.com members way back in the day? what happened, privacy issues?

If I knew I would, promise.
In any case bottom line is nothing has been removed from my side.
'got boost' found this, which seems correct:

What seems to have been removed is the image, that I don't have any control over:

Seems like "DaveyKid" is the person to ask if you like to know more about the list.
A pm might wake him up? "Last Activity: June 13th, 2007"

one further detail you require is that the vin "restarted" for the '04 model year.
i.e. 4b-3-900001 on 1 july 2002 - highest vin allocated 4b-3-905000
and 4b-4-9000001 on 1st july 2003 - highest vin allocated also 4b-4-905000

Just for the curious with '04 and later model RS6 (ie ..4B_4n****** chassis models)
2004 model year
end June 03 = 130 (..4B_4n900130)
end July 03 = 371
end Aug 03 = 419
end Sep 03 = 605
end Oct 03 = 811
end Nov 03 = 995
end Dec 03 = 1153
end Jan 04 = 1233
end Feb 04 = 1376
end Mar 04 = 1401 (25 cars ! was Neckarsulm on strike? )
end Apr 04 = 1649
end May 04 = ** no actual figure given (as mentioned above highest allocated figure is ....905000, but in reality would be nowhere near 5000. About 1800-1900 guesstimate.
There was no extention for 2004 model year for the North American market.
2005 model year cars
All RS6 built after 1st June were 2005 model year cars (..4B_5n******) and were Avants only.
Just to add to the confusion some 2005 model year cars were assembled from April 2004 onward. Mostly RS6 plus production
There also is a difference in RS6 and RS6 plus chassis numbers.
RS6 uses the usual ..4B_5n900001 onward sequence
RS6 PLUS uses ..4B_5n999001 onward sequence.
End Apr 04 - RS6 (450ps) - 6 cars built for 2005 model year for Japanese market. For unknown reasons used standard A6 chassis numbers for 2005 model year cars built in April 2004. These run ..4B_5n011864 to ..4B_5n011869. Anyone in Japan got one of these?
End Apr 04 - RS6 plus = 58 cars (4B_5n999058)
End May 04 - RS6 (no figure listed - possibly no production)
- RS6+ = 158
End Jun 04 - RS6 = 34
- RS6+ = 260
End Jul 04 - RS6 = 56
- RS6+ = 361
End Aug 04- RS6 = 61
- RS6+ = 459
The last ever C5 RS6 was a Swiss market model ..4B_5n9000079 built 22nd September 2004.
The last C5 RS6+ was a German market model ..4B_5n999561 built 8th October 2004.
