Wagon will be offered to NA buyers ONLY as the E63 4-matic AMG S....aka 100% direct RS6 competitor.
And never fear, Mercedes isn't leaving buyers out as they will also be offering CLS63 AMG 4-matic in regular and S spec for people who want a 4 door coupe (RS7 competitor). And a E63 AMG 4-matic sedan in regular and S spec for people who want 5 seats but don't like wagons.

S8 test, the RS7 is a bit lighter and more powerful. The numbers will only be better.
0-60: 3.6
1/4 mile in 11.9 @ 118 these numbers look similar to what the GT-R did when it first came out

Enough already...we get it, you've drank tons of the Audi kool-aid and want an RS7. But it is clear the majority of us don't and are discussing the other cars in that segment. I also don't follow the logic that I should just be happy "because Audi is bringing one of the RS twins here". I'm not going to buy a car that 1.) doesn't fit my needs and 2.) is not attractive to me out of some obligation to blindly support Audi. I'm not sure who the "rest of us" you are referring to even is?
Just because someone buys a certain brand does not mean they need to stop posting in a car forum. I've owned Audi, Mercedes and Porsche and still keep tabs on all the forums. Many people still have a lot to add no matter what they drive.
The simple fact is the Mercedes AMG lineup caters to more types of buyers at the moment. That's frustrating for many customers who prefer Audi.
Why is Audi preferred if it doesn't cater to your particular whims if Mercedes has the more optimal line-up? All I read here is continual Audi bashing for a select few; this is an Audi fan forum, not an Audi b***h session. AoA has stated its position, if one doesn't like its decisions, it's time to move on...
Because just moving on won't help let Audi know how I (we) feel. Times change...5 years ago I wouldn't have even considered an avant. Now I really want something in that segment - something which Audi already makes. In my case, I associate myself closer with the Audi brand than the other manufacturers, but ultimately will buy what's best for me. Sometimes you buy cars on logic, sometimes on emotion.
I could suggest the same advice for you...if you don't like the discussion on the RS6 and competitors in the US market, move on.
