"will likely" from a source like that means nothing.
i don't see it happening.
and i don't think it's fair to put Q on the spot like that. besides- audi could have that intention and then at the last minute pull it from the offerings list because of a defect with it.
Past- A4, TT, S4
Present- R8 V10
Look, Qisha could answer "...currently I do not know." and my answer to him would be:"Thank you very much for your effort."
My question is based on rumors that are flying all over the net but, are not confirmed by any internal Audi source. Just, remember one thing-997.1 was manual and automatic only. Porsche reworked the car into 997.2 and PDK was introduced. If Audi really planes new generation of R8 for MY14 then technical rework for S tronic makes a lot sense to me. Sales of R8 dropped a lot with introduction of PDK for 997.2...
I asume, that the reason is more with the economic crisis than with the introduction of the 997.2
Wondering how many really are cross-shopping between the two.
And the R8, as positive the reactions of the general public are, is more "shiny" more "hello, look at me" that the 997 (911)
Personaly don't think we will see a DSG = S-tronic gearbox in the current R8 lifespan. Too expensive to accomodate
And all the fuzz comes out of ONE source saying "likely"

Kreso- the millions needed to invest in such a thing would far outweigh whatever sales drop the car may have experienced.
potentially if audi will not make a signficant change to the platfrom of the LP570 and R8 when the next gen comes out they could engineer a DSG that would fit the current gen and the next gen of the R8. the thought of this is very plausible since the R8 chassis and platform are well ahead of their time. they could be carried over with just minor changes to the next gen- if all else stayed the same and a DSG became ready then sure- why not put it in the the current car. thing is- we JUST saw the DSG for the V8 powered audis debut in the RS5 - i really don't think the one for the V10 type of power is ready yet, and i don't think audi would offer DSG in just the V8 and not the V10.
IF audi did put a DSG in the V10 the show would be over for porsche and nissan. and maybe even ferrari.
Past- A4, TT, S4
Present- R8 V10
we hope for S-Tronic in R8 - it's needed without a question
Qisha, all is clear. Thanks.
