On a side note:
I was at the dealership today and saw a new S6 and a new S7 (heads up display and the seats are amazing! but it has that chubby feeling)
I asked the sales guy "does the S7 have the torque vectoring?" - I got the 1000' glazed look like "huh?!?"
SOLD - 03 RS6 Avus (905355)
Current - 03 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 double cab - the YETI, lifted, winched, snorkeled, lockered, skidded, geared
Sooooo, my "next week" test drive turned out to be yesterday instead, but here are my impressions:
Sound: Sounds great - could be louder, but seems appropriate for an "S" car, rather than an "RS" car.
Transmission: Doesn't seem to shift as quickly as the DSG in my B8 S4. Still quick, just with a longer pause in the flow of power.
Handling: Not in the same league as my STaSIS-suspended B8 S4. Much more isolated and with more roll, dive and squat. Not saying it doesn't handle well, because it does, but it feels more "sporty luxury car" to me than "sports sedan"
Quietness/smoothness: S6 is much quieter and smoother than my car, and than the RS 6 I've driven.
Speed/power: I didn't try launch control out of respect for the fact that it wasn't my car, but from a roll, it's not as immediately responsive as my S4. It doesn't have "turbo lag" in the traditional sense, where there's nothing then everything all at once, but still takes a moment or two to build power and really go. This impression may be more a reaction to the difference in power delivery between a supercharged engine and a turbocharged engine, but in the cut and thrust of traffic, my car gives me more options. I have little doubt that given enough room the S6 would walk away from my (tuned) S4, but I'd bet they'd be pretty darn close up to 110 mph or so.
Interior: S6 is much more impressive inside - beautiful design and outstanding quality, with clearly better materials throughout. Compared to the C5 RS6? No comparison - S6 hands down.
Overall: Beautiful, impressive car. My S4 is more fun to drive, but the S6 is more relaxing and luxurious. Tough choices, huh?
i second the motion
