    R8 production info

First of all, we need an R8 forum. This is gonna be one hell of a car. :MTM:

Road and Track reports that Audi execs are saying the R8 will be the same pricetag as a Carrera, but with 200 more horsepower!!!!!! They report that Audi execs say the 911 is, in fact, the R8's target!! 911 price, 911 size, 911 (okay, plus a little) weight, 911hp + 200 = bye bye 911, on roads and on markets, according to my math.

Yes, we do need an R8 forum.

The R8 sure is going to be an amzing bit of metal. We keep hearing how close to the 911 the new Aston Martin V8 Vantage is. It is nowhere near as good.

The R8 is going to raise the game in this category of car. Can't wait to see it.

I agree. R8 forum will be a must as we get closer.

As for the comparison with Porsche and Aston Martin, it will be interesting to see what the new 997 TT and GT3 or likely future enhanced (maybe supercharged) version of the AMV8 will do by the time the R8 finally makes its debut. Those will be harder targets to beat than are the early '06 models of the 911 and AMV8.

Should be fun choosing, no matter what happens.

Yes we need a R8 forum just put it on or a combined TT/R8 forum.
The rumour will that on the autosalon of Paris 'September 2006" there can be a "Audi R8 Quattro Concept" presented.
Beside the new TT i'm looking forward to the introduction of the R8 Quattro.

SoCal is right, this car's performance competitors are really the 997TT and GT3. It looks like a true bargain, but it's still a year or so away...so I've learned not to get my hopes up. But coming from an Audi exec and not some random magazine, the info seems pretty reliable.

There will be 2 versions of the Audi R8 Quattro to start with.
    The R8 4.2 FSI Quattro with ± 350-420 hp and the R8 5.2 FSI Quattro with ± 450-530 hp.
Both V10 FSI will be normal aspirated non turbo engines.
The engine direction of Audi is non turbo for engines with 3.2 liter and more.
Turbo and Twincharger is only planned for 4 cylinder engines at the moment.
All V6 engines will get FSI in the near future, bringing 250-320 hp.

latest info from my personal sources

concedes the following. R8 will be in paris in september. audi is planning a huge debut for it. i don't know if it will include a preview microsite like the one for the Q7. the price is expected to start at about 100K USD. however, one thing is not certain- the engine. some say it will be a V8 and others a V10 or maybe both. and maybe even a V6. for sure i don't think it needs a V10 to do what it is supposed to do. besides, in the spirit of the R8 racer a V8 would be more spiritually consistent. as it stands, an R8 with an RS4 motor will do 0-60 in 4.4. close enough to the gallardo (4.0) with 100 more hp!
    Past- A4, TT, S4

    Present- R8 V10

An R8 forum (or a TT/R8 forum in a pinch ) is a must. Afterall, I'll be the first to admit that although I am picking up a Q7 later on, the R8 is a much more important vehicle for Audi (imagewise) and more deserving of its own forum.

Please, please Audi, if a V8 is going to be base model, then please, please let it make at least as much HP as the RS 4! 430hp would not be asking too much! 440 or 450 would be even better (and not entirely impossible since the F430 squezes 490+hp out of their 4.3L).

But the upcoming V10...oooh, that sounds nice.

I agree - dedicated R8 forum is a must, and probably not too soon to start it. I expect that the new R8 will stir even wider interest and at least as empassioned enthusiasm as the RS4 on these pages.

Rear-biased AWD powered by a 5.2L V10 NA engine w/ FSI with about 500+ bhp in a manual or DSG. Keep the weight down and balanced and that will be one heck of a great ride.

    Can't wait.

Audi is still further developing the 4.2 V8 FSI engines.
The RS4 4.2 V8 FSI engine will have 450-500 hp in the new B8.

Will the RS4 now be an regular version as the M3? I thought when the RS6 come then the RS4 will be discontinued.
That's really interesting what you said here. Thanks for the info.
