i can buy an S4 now and keep it for two years then buy an R9 or skip the S4 and get an AM V8 (that's right, an aston) in 6-8 months. and never buy the R9.

S4 is different car than R9 and AM.It is what you can use on the street,or on a longer journey-well of course you can do this with an R9 and AM as well ,but if I could have a car like that, I drive it rare because they are so expensive and unique,so with a sportscar you may need an other high performance 4 doors limousine like S4.
I would buy an S4 now and wait for R9 and when R9 is available,decide which is better ,R9 or AM and keep S4 as well,but this is my opinion.
