According to info in AMS the Audi A8 will get a sporty upgrade, the S8 with a V10.
It will get a less powerful Lambo-V10, expect around 450 hp.

to me it would seem logical to introduce it in frankfurt since the new A8 has been out longer than the new A6. though, given the number of test mule sightings it would seem more logical to see the new S6 in frankfurt (or detroit/new york), along with the Q7, and maybe a concept of some sort. i'd expect the production LMQ in geneva.
I hope a concept of the new Mk2 TT.Originally posted by RXBG

ummm personally I dont see the need for an S8... The W12 engine, I think works just fine for the A8 platform. BTW doesnt the W12 also put out 450bhp?
the W12 engine is boring and heavy, I first drove it over 5 years ago and my opinion has not changed subsequently. Nor has anybody at Audi changed their opinion either. Turbo charging it only masks the problems.Originally posted by 5000S old skool

I thought the W12 was only marginally heavier than the V10 from the Gallardo? In the Phaeton, I thought the W12 was nice enough (didn't drive a W12 A8) although the Gallardo's V10 sounds SOOOO much nicer!

The story is that in time the W12 (VW) engine will be no longer availeble in a Audi A8.
That can explain why there comes A V10 engine in the new S8.

Hi all!
I'm from Hungary, sorry if my English is not very excellent.
I think it is good that the new S8 will get a V10 engine but I think 450hp isn't enough and if you want a 450 hp Audi you can buy the A8 W12. I think the new S8 needs minimum 550 or even more than 600hp if you see that the "old" Mercedes S65 AMG has 612hp.What is your opinion about my idea?
I agreed with you, 450 hp is not enough for the Audi A8 while there is also a 450 hp A8 W12.
But the rumour is that the W12 will be in time no longer available.
In that case a 450 hp strong S8 is enough.
