The new ceramic brake will be available to order as an option for the A8 W12 and A8 L W12 quattro 12-cylinder models from July 2005.
The article makes no mention of the noise issue. The only carbon ceramic brakes I've heard in person seemed to be noisey. I guess they wouldn't be putting it on unless they felt they had the bugs worked out.
That leads me to the quote. "available July 2005", then why not offer these on the RS 4? They'll certainly be ready in time? Price? The RS 4 is already pricey, why not give it the $7500.00 Brakes and be done with it!

The press release reads like the Porsche PCCB press release from the IAA in Frankfurt in 1999.
Except Porsche only claimed 100,000km, and have had to eat their words. The reality is that Ceramic brakes are still a long way from being perfect.
The life of Ceramic brakes is short. If you get a good warranty from Audi, and a separate letter confirming that Audi will pay for replacements up to 300,000 km, fine - if you don't mind driving a loaner.
