Acceleration times:
The only reason why the 911 wins is because the M5 loses on top speed and sound and a little bit because of the braking distance.
So when you remove the limiter of the M5 put a kelleners exhaust under it (if you don't like the sound, it's a matter of taste). The M5 would score higher than the 911.
The brakes can also perform better of the M5 see here:

I'll be the first to say I'm extremely impressed that BMW was able to actually get the M5 to do 0-200KPH in the sub 14 second range. Unbelievable! The E55 (a rocket in a straight line) can't post those #s and it is way up on torque. Incredible.
Ben (won't get me to trade in my though )
Damn! The M5 looks so baaaad!
well -> it just is getting clearer and clearer that the new m5 is a real damn fast car, ... and not just in straights (as the e55).
well if audi doesn't want to stop the horsepower - war ... they'll REALLY have to do sth.
ill take one of each

I agree, mighty impressive performance figures from the M5, but damn; it sure ain't pretty! Now the 911, that's a completely different story...
I wonder if there were any track times recorded?
