I'm going to Malaga, Spain. What is there to see in the area?

I'm going to Malaga in the beginning of December for a short vacation. :cool2:

Nothing is planned except getting a rental car and find out some nice sightseeing in the area.

    Suggestions please! :asian:

All I can say is VALDERAMA Golf course, well if you are a golfer its a must. So its not for you i guess

Valderama is like Nurburgring in a way. Truley spoken about around Europa. It got the myth and legends thing about it as the ring, for the golfer anyway And its high ranked course in Europa if not looking at the British Ilands.

I would defenetly recomend you to go to Ronda, best if you go from Marbella, you´ll be able to find one the of the most beautifull roads I Know (I used to ride a big bike there... amazing). And once there, besides incredible sightseings, be kind with you stomach and try dining at "TRAGABUCHES RESTAURANT".

And of course, once we´re talking about cars, there´s a track on the way to Ronda at "San Pedro de Alcantara", i think it´s called Ascari Racing Track or something similar, but what I´ve heard about it it´s that they have some nice cars to rent and ride in the circuit.

Good Luck and enjoy your stay at our country.

If you need more info feel free to e mail me, I´ll be really pleased.

Malaga. Southern Spain. One of the most beautiful places in the world. I echo what dimitri says. Plenty of little towns to check out and the roads are ok. You may want to try a nicer rental than the average econobox. I used carjet.com a couple of years ago and even called the airport in Malaga to make sure it wasn't just a front for a scam. They are legitimate and very competitive. I rented a nice mercedes from them and tore the countryside apart. We were pedal to the metal mosrt of the time. For some reason the cops don't seem to mind speeds of 110 - 115 mph. Check it out. Also, don't be afraid of stopping at any little shop or bar to catch a glimpse of the locals (and the beer). Most everyone will be happy to share some tapas and serrano ham with you. Enjoy the trip.

    Erik,

You must go to Marbella, inestead of Malaga, although December is not the
best time of the year. visit "Puerto Banus", you will se great boats and
beautiful cars. Night life is extremely active there. Check out Night club
called "Olivia Valere". In Puerto Banus there are all kinds of restaurants,
best one till today "Cipriano" (as you go into Puerto Banus) for high class
cuisine. If you like Japanese "Sakura" (also in Banus). for italian food
"Picasso", more romantic setting with good Italian food "amore e fantasia"
for Greek food "Red Pepper", for Indian food "Khan`s"

take a drink in Puerto Banus at "SINATRA" - SALDUBA or "NEWS CAFE", while
you watch Ferraris / Porsche / Mercedes Hummers etc, drive by. then later on
head to "La comedia" disco, and later on to Oliveia Valere.

save one night for the Casino ( Nueva Andalucia, in front of Puerto Banus)

For daytime activities, you should surely visit RONDA (rent a nice powerful
car, you wont regret it) and experience driving the mountains roads to
RONDA. see the town, beautiful. a golf match is a must in Marbella, You have
more than 30 Golf courses and marbella is Golfers paradise. best Golf
courses; La quinta, los naranjos, marbella golf & country club.

In Ronda you have the new Ascari race course, i believe this is members
only....but if you tell them you ran a European RS6
    Association............maybe ?

If you have a bit of time, drive to SOTOGRANDE (about 25 minutes drive West
Marbella) to check out one of the most luxurious holiday resorts in Europe.
maybe you`ll end up buying a property there....

Drive to MIJAS, a tipical Spanish little town situated up in the hill with
beautiful views to the Sea. (15 minutes from Marbella)

Be sure to eat some fresh fish while in Spain. (restaurante Antonio in
    Puerto Banus)

If you still have time, visit the Rock of Gibraltar (45 minutes from
Marbella). feel like you are in England, inside Spain.

If with your wife, take her on saturday morning the the "flee market" in
Nueva Andalucia (in front of Puerto Banus, by the bull ring)

If the weather is nice and sunny, visit the "OCEAN CLUB" in Puerto banus, at
    the beach.

Speak to a lady called Davina and tell her you have 3000 Euros to spend for the day... That will buy you a slot on the circuit. Alternatively you could stump up 100k for membership or do what Petrol Ted did from Pistonheads - go there on a PR mission.

    Fabulous place, amazing circuit.

OK, I don't have 3000 Euros to spend, especially since I'm in a rental more suited for the family, and obviously my PR-mission wasn't strong enough this time.

Having a rental shouldn't be a problem - there are plenty of club toys to play with! BMW Touring Cars, Radicals, Formula France, Formula Renault Single Seaters (very nice), F1 Bennettons if you have extra cash and can convince the academy you are good enough!!

You can also buy a flying lap in the Ascari LM-P900 Le-Mans racer which set fastest qualifying in 2001 (or was it 2002...)

With full membership you could even book the helicopter shuttle but that would waste the San Pedro to Ronda road....

    Dave.

PS There is also a KZ1-R if you're not interested in any of the above!

    Have a good trip anyway...

Looks nice to say the least! Hopefully I can get a peek.

Well, departing tomorrow. I'm a bit late, booked the rental yesterday (Ford Focus ) and have to find a hotel now...

+18C in Spain right now :cool2: vs. +4C here
