Woudl a bargain VW Golf MKII, make a good track day car?

    Hey,

I've been pondering about buying a friend's Golf MKII of her for a good price (approx. £200-400) to use as a dedicated track day car. It's to save money and the life expectancy on the 325 (which is a damn good car on the track, surprisingly).

All I know is that the car is in a sound condition, and is a MKII Golf 'Driver'.

Does anyone know where I can find out more information about this car, the changes throughout the years and what aftermarket parts are available?

I'm hoping it'll be ready for next season (Summer '05).

    Thanks,

PS - Thanks Bauer for the insperation on getting a dedicated Track car, haha.

an MK II as track car ...... hmmmmm -> strange idea!!!

do you know which engine it has -> well ... with a G60 powered 1.8 liter engine ... I wouldn't mind that car ... but ... well as track - car ...

well ........ of course it'd be a really cheap trackcar.

    just my 2cnt
