The new Audi grill suits an SUV quite nicely. As for the Lambo, well they did make tractors at one point

Article about New Q7 - Click Here

"To keep weight and costs down, Audi has avoided much of the Touareg’s hardcore four-wheel-drive componentry, including its low-range gearing and locking differentials, the Q7 aiming for more convincing on-road qualities than out-right ability in the rough stuff. Lower-end models get steel springs, with more expensive versions getting air springs with variable ride height."

does that mean it will not have a 4x4 system at all or it will not have a "hardcore four-wheel-drive" system... (possibly something on the lighter side for better road capabilities- just like they pointed out)?

Absolutely right. If anyone should have been first to market with a hard-core SUV it should have been Audi. It is one thing to have joined the premium SUV market way too late, but to do so with such a pathetic level of 4WD performance reflects poorly on the inventors of Quattro. I'll be the first person to eat my words if the Q7 is brilliant, but in my opinion I'd like to see a car that crunches the likes of the Range Rover and Cayenne. If I need a good on-road 4DW car then the RS4/ RS6 Avant is my choice.

This is SUCH a dissapointment! What the heck happened to "Never Follow" and "Advancement through Technology"? Yes I know these are just marketing ploys to attract buyers but for GOODNESS SAKES PEOPLE at least TRY to pretend to back it up!!!

As Tailpipe states it makes absolutely no sense to purely focus on "onroad abilities" when cars like RS 6/RS 4 Avants exists, not to mention the S 6/ S 4 Avants.

To come SO late to the SUV party with a half arsed attemp is definately NOT "Never Follow". It IS "Let us Follow!"

The Lambo and Audi looks great.
Wouldn't mind paying ca 80 000 Euro for the Lambo.

None of these are going to make me give up my Diesel long wheel base Land Cruiser which does 800km between tanks, can sleep 3 adults on the rear floor, be driven across deserts and mountains and pull treestumps, more reliable than a Hummer and bigger towing capacity too.

The Toyota LandCruiser has to be benchmark target vehicle in this category. So here's the spec. that the RS6 "experts" seem to be setting for the Q7:

    (Pay attention Audi)

    Superb practicality
    Bullet-proof reliability
    Serious off-road ability
Enough performance on-road to worry a Ferrari or as economical to run as a hybrid
    Luxurious and well-thought out interior

Which brings me to another point, have you noticed that the more focused an SUV is, the more mainstream its appeal is? In the UK, for example, you see so many more Range Rovers in London than you do BMW X5s! Mind you, with all the speed bumps we now have in London, I am beginning to think a hard core SUV might be the best way to tame them.

To me that has to do with demographics... Here in the US, although Range Rovers have been on the market forever, it's exactly the opposite...

I agree Range Rovers are more focused than X5s though.

why would lambo and ferrari make SUVs in my eyes it just make the cars more affordable and therefor they lose they some of they edge which makes people buy them. Why buy a Ferrari when you see 30 people a day ride around in one (just like the cheyenne)

im waiting for the pagani zonda SUV, the roadster edition.

joking! i think the Q7 looks much better than the lambo.

What is the target customer lambo is looking for with that lambo? Beverly hills soccer mom? (serious question... anyone?)

That Lambo SUV is really ugly, but i have seen photoshop's of a ferrari SUV, which were even more ugly.

The only reason Lambo needs a SUV is if they really really really need a lot of extra cash
The best Audi is the Gallardo :D
