I back from a few days with X-Mas with the family. Covered almost 800 km on winter roads with temperatures from -2 to -18C. I must say my car (A6 2.7TQ MTM Tiptronic) is excellent for this type of driving (too). No matter what the conditions are it just feels steady like a train, even when you are overtaking someone and have to pass a lot of snow and ice.
It just feels like everybody is driving so slow.And the best parts is to change into 3:rd gear at around 80 km/h and floor the pedal, lose a little traction but still overtake a few cars.
Managed to average over 100 km/h which is similar to what I get during summer when I try not to do go over 30km/h above speed limit.
My tires are 17" 205 mm Pirelli studded and they help too.
Of course noone is invincible and you have to take a lot of care when you are driving so much faster than average.
Tractions is one thing, but when it comes to brakeing it's the same for everybody.
