    Oil

Been a while since I was on the forum.

My stash of RS6 specific 505.01 oil has finally run out. Anyone want to share what they're using, as I can't find any oils that specifically say they pass that standard. Thanks for your input.

I've been using Redline 5w-40 for 15yrs in my RS6. Not the Euro formula one but the Regular. It meets 505.01 and has the highest (HTHS) rating of any 5w-40 oil. I have started using BND 7.5w40 in my RS5 and S5 recently. I'll have to see how the next Blackstone reports show. I know D.Hall had a great Blackstone oil report on the BND he was using in his RS6.
I do believe in paying a little more for a better oil than just plain off the shelf Castrol or Mobil1. Their reports usually show they are completely finished by 5k miles. I do keep most of my cars a long time. I have 8 vehicles and a fairly good size shop.

Thanks! I'll order some Redline now. I have an '88 928, a '90 V8Quattro, along with the RS6, so I keep cars a while also. Somewhere I am sure 4 cars I previously owned are also still on the road. The "baby" of my car family is a '16 Cayman GT4; hard to believe that it's almost 6 years old now. Time certainly flies!!

I love that GT4. My cars stretch from '74 911 to a '13 RS5 with a mostly Germany mix in between except for an old '84 F250 and ex-Military HMMWV, 24volt electrical system and all.

Liqui Moly’s Top Tec 4100 5W-40 VW 505 01 approval. Another option if you need one. While I do use $$$ oil for severe duty, I haven't found any issues with this over 5 or so years of use in two classic RS cars that I still own.

Like D Hall, been using BND since I got the car a little more than 40k ago and using Brian’s transmission fluid and filter since the TC was replaced with an ACE.

What is 'Brian's transmission fluid', and filter for that matter? I have an ACE rebulid in my ride as well, just curious what this is, Google didn't uncover anything other than some local auto shops.

I have a friend who has been an Audi Porsche mechanic since, well, forever. He used to drive up to my house in a 100LS. He is a crew chief for a couple of Porsche Cup cars, and regularly exchanges blocks and heads with Porsche directly. On more than one occasion, Porsche asked him what oil he was using. LubroMoly 5W-40. Porsche replied keep using it. "Your engines are running perfectly".

    LubroMoly additive or LiquiMoly oil?

I've been running the LiquiMoly Molygen and the top end looked clean when I had the valve covers off.
