She just returned to me this past Saturday. Journeyed from Indiana to 2Bennett Audimotive and back on Intercity Lines.
The main reason for the trip was to get the 2Bennett coilovers installed and the DRC definitively removed. While there I took advantage of 2Bennett’s expertise on some other problems that were found. The front brake rotors were shot and one of the calipers was leaking brake fluid. So I upgraded to the 2Bennett front brake system using replaceable full floating rotors on aluminum center hats. The rear brakes got new rotors and pads.
Since the suspension was basically off the car, this seemed like a good time to take advantage and get the Wagner intercoolers and carbon fiber ducting installed. They had been gathering dust in my garage waiting for an opportune time to get installed. In the course of the repairs a couple of oil leaks were found, identified, and fixed. One involved the combination engine oil and transmission fluid cooler. That was replaced with the 2Bennett Mocal setup. Similarly, the RS6 Plus accelerator, brake, and dead pedals that were gathering dust in my garage were installed.
Next was a healthy dose of the usual PM, consisting of timing belt, water pump, along with replacement idlers and tensioner, and crankshaft pulley bolts.
Finally, when I bought the car I had the best protective film put on the leading parts of the car. They did their job for the most part, but inevitably some paint was lost to small flying particles. So the old film was removed, blemishes addressed, followed by paint correction and full ceramic coating, and finally reapplication of protective film to 2020 standard.
And she’s back. Obviously there was some cost here, but for my DD mission I don’t see the replacement for my RS6 out there for less than $120k. So the plan is to see my way through to retirement In 4 years with the RS6 and then reassess the situation.
Hopefully at least some of these photos make it into this LONG post.
