Follow-up on Headlight Bulb replacement question

So I did switch the bulb - bulb works. Wound up putting the bulb back in and it's now working. Thinking maybe a bad connection. If the transformer was the culprit, do they start acting up (overheating over time), then going out ? Have not had a chance to drive at night since it started working again. I see the price for new OEM one is $400+. Lots of used ones around. Just wondering.

Many years ago I switched my headlight bulbs to "5400K Osram Xenarc xenon headlights" and they have been great so far. Still working and prefer the whiteness of the 5400K over the stock 4300K.
