    034 vs. Stern mounts

    Alright, folks.

Time has come for engine mount replacent.

I am seeing the stern ones that everyone uses with apikol tranny mounts. However, what about these:

Look forward to everyone's thoughts. The 034's appear a bit better priced.

    Thanks

This is more of an apples to apples comparison

Yep, I run these with Street Density rubber and matching trans mounts. No real noticeable vibration difference compared to OEM. I opt'd to install the included 10mm hardware which requires drilling out the motor mount brackets (difficult with motor in position but can be done). You would also need to motor mount resistors to avoid a CEL but for the life of me I can't seem to find them listed anymore and don't remember if they were included.

I just put the Stern's in mine. I was throwing codes, and obvious slop with the old OEMs. They came with the resisters which I consider a big plus. Apikol only had the firm ones in stock. So, I went with those. Vibrations were notable at idle, but went away rolling into the throttle. I would say those spirited drivers would like the firm ones, but others may want to stick with the softer ones. I was surprised the vibrations weren't more obvious since the motor mounts are more directly tied to the frame via that little bracket (versus on the subframe as with the tranny mounts).

Audi sells factory resistors for A8's, 4E0971067A which will probably work the same for the RS6. I can check the resistance on them compared to my Stearns. The 2004~2008 A8's had a TSB for erroneous motor mount faults so Audi came out with these.

Are these the tranny mounts you're running?

Yes, in street density. The spacer is essential for proper height. The center bolt is a little longer than I like and hangs down beyond the bottom of the mount. But that might be because this is a mount designed for the 5TIP and I'm running it on a 6MT (bracket thickness might be different).

Where can I order the Sterm mounts right now? I'm finding everyone is backordered.
    '02 S6 Avant Silver - Pokey | Carbon Black/Ebony RS6 w/ stuff - darn quick | '03 Daytona Grey/Ebony RS6 w/ more stuff - quicker yet | '91 NSX CDN issue with 6spd & BBSC - quicker yet and then some | '87 Buick GNX OEM clone w/ lots of stuff - quickest hands down

Well I guess I am between the stern engine mounts with apikol tranny mount combination or the 034 engine and tranny mounts.
