    It now begins

    Well my RS6 is in for major surgery at 250K (KM);

    DRC fronts + hoses
    Coolant module
    4 new rotors + pads + flush
    Front left wheel bearing
    Uppers are shot (both sides)
EGT sensors need to be replaced ( might wait and see what we do in our Stage 1)
Dreaded timing belt ( and all of its components)
various leaks ( valve cover , oil pan and Rear Trans )
    All filters

Then we talk Stage 1 If I have any money left. So what can we do for a 3k budget ? Flash, Downpipes - Exhaust? Or better Intercoolers + chip + downpipes) or Flash + TCU upgrade ?? Just looking for what has been done and what benefits where achieved.

    Again thanks

She is at Rombotis Tuning in Montreal

Well after all that you are gonna be BROKE! LOL, I kid. Most make more than I.

At any rate tune and trans tune is a must. I just ordered a complete 034 Motorsport setup for mine but thats before I found out about Daz doing them. Much more knowledge and ability to tune. Plus the tuning process is WAY easier and hes half the freakin cost! Argh, I could cry...... sorry. Also spend the money for a vagcom as its only $250 and worth its weight in gold.... another sore point for me LOL. That should leave enough for downpipes and a Miltek catback. I run the Miltek high flow cats but thats what the previous owner did so I will leave them. If I had stock cats I would get some down pipes instead. These cars sound so wicked with the Miltek and down pipes. If funds permit, add on some Hotchkis sway bars but maybe thats more for the guys that removed the DRC system... not sure as still very newb.

Thats pretty much what most companies call their ECU tune for the cars.

I was about to say that you could do a lot with $3k but then I see that your'e going to have to pay for labor on whatever you have done.

Is $3k your total budget or is that your budget after the list of necessary items?

I'm afraid that $3k US (even worse with CDN) will not come close to covering that list...

So true! If I didn't have the ability to do most of my own work, I would never have bought this car. This year's maintenance/repair included refinishing the wheels, replacing the steering rack and tie rods, control arms, struts, endlinks, rear transmission seal, battery and alternator. I'm praying that's all until 2017 when the timing belt is due again! That or I trade it for an 07-08 Aston DB9 and start the cycle all over again; was at the local Porsche dealer test driving an '08 DB9 Sports Pack yesterday, but I'm not ready to say goodbye to my current cars yet.

Sorry for not clarifying better. I am well aware of what it means generally in the automotive world, but the term is a contrived one and depending on who you talk to, who manufacturers the car, and who modifies the car, the meaning differs. If you start with a base model car - i.e. an A6 as an example - there would need to be different things done in support of Stage 1, 2, 3, etc. If you start with your base being an S6, then I personally don't believe you can easily just state you still start at Stage 1. Move forward and in to a RennSport, and you would be further pressed to believe you need start at Stage 1 on a car that already has a base of 450hp.

I suppose it's just a term, but for me it's one of those terms that is meaningless because it has no level of standard or consistent basis.

For me the baseline is stock form in which the car left the manufacturer. I cannot say a RennSport is a staged A6, not by a long shot. They are two completely different cars.. They share the same skin.. But yes a Stage 1 means many things to many people. I would like to know what is a good path moving forward in wanting to enhance this great car. I do mean enhance and not re-engineer..

He is a god in the b5s4/ 2.7 world. Basically tunes the majority of them on the road. He gives a personal touch to you tune and if major modifications will log and tune remotely. Turned my a6 and my rs6 into completely different machines.

Yeah, if you want the trans to shift 100 rpm earlier or shift firmer or ramp down boost in lower gears.... just let him know and he can email you the updates. I really wish I would have bought his just due to service and him as a person.

Not with shifting, it's flashed directly onto the chip before soldering in...maybe other Audi's you can flash like the ECU?
