How many gallons does the beast hold?

Left the garage to head to Home Depot (about 4 miles) with the gauge showing a 1/4 of a tank. About 3 miles in she stumbled and then the low fuel alert came on. Gauge still showed 1/8 of a tank. This is how much I put in at the nearest gas station. I suspect the gauge is bad. Any idea how many gallons she actually holds? Manual says approximately 21.6.

Wow 23 gal? The most I've ever put in mine was 21, and that was with the low fuel light on for a while and 0 miles remaining on the DIS..

I thought it was something like 21.5...23 seems real high. And it's probably not your gauge in your cluster but one of the senders in the fuel tank.

I've had situations where I'm driving for a while and showing 40-50 miles left, and after a short stop, suddenly I'm down to 5-10 miles and missing another 1/8 of a tank. Heat and pressure in the tank can give you a little too much confidence that you will always make it to the next exit.

However, the manual says 21.6, cars.com says 21.7 gallon capacity, in any case you've been overcharged. Take the receipt back to the gas station and ask them to show you the most recent calibration, and your $8 back.

Tell them that if they don't put up a fight, you won't have to report it to the local media.

I've put in 84 Litres many times. That's a hair over 22 Gallons for the US folk still stuck with imperial.... I'm positive I was on fumes each time. Here's a pic from a few years ago that I thought was impressive at the time (gas hasn't been under a $1.00 for 5 years here I think). Have since been even more empty, but haven't taken any pics.

That was my thought too, you only got 21 gallons for your 23 paid, hmmm

Yea most you can get in, if you are bone dry is 22. You got some special tank...

I've put in 23 also, my first RS6 never over 21. I'm wondering if there's a special larger gas tank or if it's just a huge filler neck that holds 2 gallons.

That is bizarre; I've never filled more than 21.xx gallons either
