    Urgent: Mother's workhorse needs oil!

    Hi,

    My mother has a VW Passat 2.0 (130bhp version) and it needs oil, and the Technical Data thats keeps being referred to in the user manual says we should go for "VW 500 002" which to me is a VW reference number for ordering their own oil. This is not what we want...so does anyone have any idea what rating oil we should buy?

    I'm thinking 10w 40?

    Nevermind, it'll have to wait till tommorow, then we'll go to the VW dealership and see if they have any in stock...
