Who knows, at best we might get sketches of the original. I would guess the changes are to the grille/bumper and not sheetmetal.
Audi and the rest of the Volkswagen Group have very stringent oversight methods so I find it doubtful that the model received board approved funding without the board approving the final design of the new Q7. Therefore, the stories of a late stage redesign sound very questionable; however, planting a story to get more news coverage is a different matter.
