Flag Audi A8 W12 Is Very Quick But Slow

Here is the first and probably only instrumented test of the A8 W12, those who were worried that the naturally aspirated W12 would not keep up with the turbo 760li and the S600 need not to worry. The S8 should post even better figures.

    0-60: 4.1
    1/4 mile: 12.6 @ 114.
    Top Speed: 128 mph

Those acceleration numbers are incredible for a car of that size! I can't figure out that top speed, though. Why would they govern a 500hp flagship vehicle that starts at $136k to "only" 128mph?

As tested price: $180K.... and I bet in about 7-8 years they will be around in the mid $30K range used. Amazing. Still a car I would love to own some day. But after someone else pays retail for it.

The 2012 S8 is a screamer as well 4.2 to 60 and doesn't have quite the price tag the w12 has

I get confused on the model year stuff....

Let me get this straight. We are in month 5 of 2012 and still no 2012 S8, S6 or S7....

Sounds like it should be called 2013....

I drove and raced a D3 6.0 W12 A8, it really isn't as quick as my C5 RS6, nice car though, just doesn't feel fast. This was the result of the race. The D4 looks like it has a some power though.

Same result, this was the third run.

Current: V10 RS 6 Saloon, 420mm Ceramics, MRC, Milltek, MTM bits, Audi exclusive bits - 757BHP/967NM
Past: V8 RS 6 plus, Sprint Blue, 126 of 999
