    Great Timing!

I recently learned that the new E550 has AWD standard, and has a 4.6 liter Twin Turbo V8.....loaded with most options it runs about $77,000. Base Price $59,790.

This post says the S6 will be 72,000 Euros, or $96,000 US dollars, base price.

Don't get me wrong, I prefer the styling of the new S6, but for $24,000 more PLUS the other 'stuff' it better out perform that E550, but somehow I doubt it.

Did I read something wrong on the MB site? I saw a quick note about after market tuning on that MB 4.6 liter TT V8 producing some 600 hp....

Audi may be driving it's hard core customers away by missing the production timing as compared to the BMW 550 and the MB e550 by 6 months.

You cannot look at the prices that way. Over in US they cars are always a lot cheaper.

To be precise, check out www.mercedes-benz.de. The E550 4Matic base price is 73.000€.

Seems strange, but it's normal. They price the cars differently for different markets

what beautiful interiors - Audi always seems to be a decade ahead of the times with interiors.

the upcoming RS7, if producing at LEAST 600bhp will open my wallet, unquestionably.

I have my doubts about the B&O sound system being worth the cost, but I have to admit that the tweeters are pure elegance and just technogeek cool

But with an upcoming head unit upgrade to a Pioneer Appradio, I still don't see a clear edge with any current Audi offerings over the RS6, either in performance or interior accoutrements, excepting the V10 R8. And if we had gotten the C6 RS6, you could cross off the R8 as well! For my money, buying an S6 would get me a slower car and just newness for the sake of newness.

Ah, two technology points thought - carbon ceramic brakes, and FSI. I really like the concept and there's a lot more tuning flexibility with FSI over traditional manifold injection.

Air suspension though??? Magnetic dampers would make far more sense. I'd think Audi would have learned some lessons both from the DRC debacle, and Mercedes woes with its air suspensions.

The main reason of the price diff is that EU pricing always includes roughly 20% VAT.... we pay our tax at time of sale.

the interiors of Audi are simply awesome and way ahead Merc and BMW, have always loved it, but the power band for the S6 is not enough, only 420hp it's just not enough for the money you pay for the car and as it looks like from the recent reviews the car doesn't do very well next to 550i, however for the price i would pay now to get a new S6 i've rather buy the C6 RS6 still under warranty with 20-30k miles or even less...

Now :2009 Audi RS6 C6 - stock yet pretty fast
