    Broken Window Cable Fix?

My driver's window stopped half way up today and started to make a grinding noise. I popped the door card and found a broken cable in the window track. I assume that this is on a pulley system that operates the window. I got the window closed for now, until I can figure out the fix.

So, how big of a deal is this to DIY? Any help with part numbers I need to fix it would be great.

    Thanks RS6.com-ers.

    window regulator w/o motor. p/n 4b0-837-461c

    oem will cost around $175
    after market around $80

Replacement is pretty straightforward. You'll need to separate the upper window frame from the door. I usually scribe a mark around the washers so that you can get them back in the original position going back together.

Take your time and you'll be fine. I can do one in less than an hour. It will take you somewhat longer
