Yes. I'm glad that BMW has understood the point of awd in this car.

i'd wait till the first mod year has come out and gone before buying- much less chip tuning- such a thing. when it works it'll pull like a locomotive. i'd like to see it go against the S6.
    Past- A4, TT, S4

    Present- R8 V10

I bet it will do the 0-60 and 0-100 times in 4.7s and 11.5s respectively, hardly S6 material but still stellar for a diesel.

They do have a twin turbo 3.0 diesel now, they finally caught up, then BMW moved the game on again.

How does Audi follow this? I can't imagine packaging 3 turbos into a v6 is easy - BMW has the advantage of an inline 6 here. Also, I'd always take a lighter 3 turbo 6 cylinder over a v8 any day.

By the way, does anyone know if the new 5 series xDrive will come to the UK in right-hand-drive?

    I just realised this...

    Audi A6 3.0 TDI - (3.0l, V6 turbo, 245 hp, 500 Nm)
    Audi A6 3.0 TDI - (3.0l, V6 bi-turbo, 313 hp, 500 Nm)
    BMW 530d - (3.0l, R6 turbo, 258 hp, 540 Nm)
    BMW 535d - (3.0l, R6 bi-turbo, 313 hp, 630 Nm)
    Merc' E 350 CDI - (3.0l, V6, 265 hp, 620 Nm)

Is it possible that Audis engine has this tourque disadvantage over rivals...?

The 313 hp V6 TDI has 650 newton meters of torque, very comparable to the competition.

Than, there is wrong info' on audi.de http://www.audi.de/de/brand/de/neuwa...che_daten.html

BTW, Merc's 3.0 single turbo has impressive torque figure (620 Nm) compared to Audis (500 Nm) and BMWs (540 Nm) single turbos...

Correct, that's why there was the need to switch from S-Tronic to 8sp Auto.

Is this actually a tri-turbo system in the Beemer or is it a bi-turbo system where one of the turbos is BMW's Twinpower version?
