So the test fit didn't go exactly as planned today. Spacers are too wide. Wheels are VMR 701's 19"x9.5" et45 offset with a 28mm spacer was what was recommended. Turns out the spacers are too big. Thoughts anyone? Did they sell me wheels with the wrong offset or can I just use smaller spacers? Any info is greatly appreciated. I'll be searching the forum for answers, just thought I'd put a post up too. Thanks in advance guys.
How far off were they? Any pictures?
28mm is a lot of spacer any way you cut it. Adds a ton of unsprung weight.

I assume that you tried to mount the wheels only, to find that they hit the brake calipers?

That's ET 17. It is too far out for 9.5" rim. I would use the H&R 20mm DRA series spacer. ECS TUNING should have them for $150/pair.

Ideally I thik you want a wheel who's natural offset is sufficent to clear our brakes but not so much they are pushed out beyond the cars fenders.
I think the net offset need to be near 25-30 depending on how wide your rim is. For a 9.5 inch rim you'll most likely need an offset near 30. For your wheels you may be able to use 15mm spacers to reduce the 45mm offset.
My rims are 19*10 with an offset of 30 and I'm going to need to use a 5mm spacer (test fit this weekend) to push the rim out enough so it doesn't rub on the control arm.

When I had spacers on my previous vehicle, mine were a bit too wide as well (w/ 20" wheels). So I took them to a machine shop and had them cut down a bit. Was the cheaper alternative compared to buying a new set.
but getting the wheel as close to the fender without sticking out, that really perfects the look IMHO. I need to roll my front fenders, but on my rears, the clearance between tire and fender through its range of motion is just a few millimeters.

ET of 30 - 35 is what you need. You might need to run something like 40+ psi, too.

I have a set of 20mm spacers that were on my car when I bought it, not sure what brand they are because there is nothing stamped on them. You can have them for the shipping cost if you want, I'll be home tomorrow and Thursday to send them out. If they're still too wide, you could get them turned at a machine shop for minimal cost as said above, and send the 28s back for a refund.
Hey guys, thanks for all the responses. Spacers were way too wide @ 28mm. Owner of the shop had a set of 15mm spacers on his Allroad so we tried one of those. Worked pretty well if you ask me. So the 15 mm are being ordered. I like the fitment in the pic.
