can i fill ATF at home?

    Hi

It has been a while guys, My RS6 has been sitting a while due to me traveling. seems that I had a trans leak and the car seems low on fluid, I only moved it a few feet from the drive way.

Can i add fluid to the car so i can get it to a shop to fix the leak and fill it with fluid?

I know this is probably a bad thing but for now I need to fix this issue so i can service the car. I have been away for 11 months.

Be sure it is ATF that it is leaking and not gear oil from the front or center differential which is all in the same case with the transmission. The ATF has a special procedure from filling and is difficult to do with the car on the ground and can't be done with the car on ramps as the car needs to be level. There is a snorkel type of fill plug in the pan, as well as a regular drain plug. With the tranny at around 40'C oil should just drip out of the snorkel plug with the engine running. If you pull the without the engine running ATF will pour out of the filler hole.
