The pictures aren't great, but I had higher expectations on the looks and "angriness" of the new M5.

I think the new 5 series is really good looking.

I say the same as you Erik, I hope the end result is much better cause the new 5 has potential...

Overall it looks good, better in fact that either the previous M5 or the current M3 IMO. Though without awd it will still remain a fare weather car, especially with over 550hp.

First picture is so similar to a 7-series.

Erik, that is a constant complaint that BMW fans level at Audi, claiming all their designs are copy and paste. I think all brand need a corp image which makes them instantly recognisable regardless of model.

I call that being clever, something even BMW know about.

I know, the new A6 is very similar to Audi A8 as well.

Similar to the A8 but it is better looking in just the same way as the 5 is better looking than the 7.

So spec is finally confirmed on the M5.

    Power : 552hp (same as X5/6M)
    Torque : 510ft/lbs (slight increase over x5/6M)
    Gearbox : 7sp DCT
    Diff : Electronically control M-Diff
    Suspension : Adaptive
    Weight : ???? kg.
    Price : approx £75K

I doubt too much of the above will worry the boys at quattro, output of the RS6 will probably shadow this, while torque could actually be higher if the Bentley equivalent engine is anything to go by but that will depend greatly on if S/Tronic can be made to cope. The latest quattro with sportdiff easily beats this new M-diff for traction (might explain BMW's decision to add AWD as an option) and there is also a very good chance that the new RS6 will end up the lighter of the two.

    I'm quite positive.

I think there is a chance the RS6 could be lighter than the M5 if the A6 is anything to go by. Time will tell.

And i also doubt it can ever beat C6 MTM RS6 without any "hardware" modification.

I agree that the new 5 series is a good looking car. After seeing the M5 pics, I think it was job well done. After all, with the new 1M, a lot of us were complaining BMW went "too far" with the fender flares and went overboard. So as I see it, this is just about right (although where are the M mirrors???). I'd hit it, but I'd like to see what the new RS 6 will look like for comparison's sake.

As for Joker's comments about Audi having more power, agreed, I doubt they'll come to the party with less. But the key will be weight.

Probably a lot as well. BMW has not forgotten about the C6 when making this car, it will be seriously quick.

First picture of the M5 interior. Not the impressed to be honest, or were my expectations too high to begin with?

It doesn't blow me away because BMW interiors these days are so similar (look at the 5, 7, X5 etc) all basically the same design. However, that said it is a nice interior but it just doesn't seem special. I really like the new A6 interior though.
