What is interesting about this car and therefore the entire next A3 range is the growth in size. The new A3 will still be comparable to the existing model and fits in between it and the A4 very nicely. Although slightly shorter than the A4, the bonnet (hood) length and boot (trunk) lengths of the A3 seem much shorter, so the space between the wheels if anything is larger than that of the current A4.
In addition to the 2-door convertible, 3-door hatchback, 4-door notchback, 5-door Sportback and 5-door Q3 crossover, I understand that there will also be an Avant version. Anyone heard anything about this? Assuming that this is the intended range, what we really have with the new A3 is a scaled-down A4 with a transverse FWD / Quattro layout rather than a longitudinal one. While the transverse layout is less ideal for purists, it does confer certain packaging benefits, such as increased interior space described above.
The styling is gorgeous IMHO and the tech is no less impressive. It seems as if Audi is making a concerted effort to produce a truly excellent car.
Exterior design is awesome!
I can't wait to see just how good this new platform really is and which areas Audi have improved over the outgoing model from a dynamics perspective. I seriously never thought I would down-grade to an A3 as it's the size my wife currently drives (though not an Audi) but a 300hp S3SB sounds very appealing at the moment.
The next RS3 will be mega.
Hanging the tail out is Vanity
