For my money, I want S tronic. Remember, there's not TC to fail in this auto (although other parts will probably fill this void). Just 2 things I would like about the paddles:

    1) faster shifts, I want that gear to change before I let go of the paddle.

    2) mount the paddles on the column, for a race car the paddles on the wheel make sense as you usually don't move you hands on the wheel. But on a road car, I want column.

I have been reading up on the difference.

From what I gather the R-Tronic has a single electronic clutch and basically does what your left foot would do when you move the shifter?
And the S-tronic is a dual clutch system?

DKG isn't sequential. It's double-clutch like S-Tronic. SMG on the other hand is sequential like the R-Tronic box.

For me, I'd like to see a beefed up S-tronic in there or just stay with the tiptronic. No R-Tronic

Dual clutch for sure, though that said I wouldn't complain if it were a traditional automatic, so good are they now.

The S tronic(dsg) box is an auto. It doesn't have a torque converter and rather, has a dual clutch system. Its pretty much like having 2 manual transmissions in one case. It is much smoother and faster than a traditional auto with a TC. And "tiptronic" just refers to the mode you put it in to change gears yourself via center stick or paddles. It is not another "type" of transmission.

I do KNOW the differences between these transmission.

I was only saying that the latest traditional auto with the torque convertor are exactly very good indeed and if Audi didn't give the RS6 the S-Tronic then it would still be a brilliant car without it.

if they put DRC in the new RS6, they can keep it.
