    1:25.7 - Audi RS4

or if you want the track times for the spain test track it looks like this
    2.38.9 - BMW M3
    2.43.0 - merc c63 AMG
    2.43.9 - Audi RS4

this raises a question with me
i have been on the look out for a new car lately, i am after a fast car that looks really good. i have always thought audis of late look ok and have a nice solid feel to them,(minus the drug dealer wheels they are all carrying these days) you know what i meen!
anyway i have been after a medium and size sports car and i am looking at loads of reviews and web videos of a few, the 1s that have caught my eye are the R8 and rs4/rs5, so i have a couple of videos to help me decide
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jD5nZvkgzqA
i think this video shows if you want a fast car then its got to be the superior M5
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DaZExdTHHjY
again in this video the rs4 gets a kicking from the M3

even top gear last night was showing the bmw as the best sports car ever, and jeremy said the best car is the M3 and always would be!
so shall i just get an M car and not worry if i bought an audi that i would always feel like i made the wrong choice when an m3/m5 drives past?

Back ontopic, didn't anyone notice at the begining of this episode of top gear where Clarkson said something like : "rear wheel drive is really bad when the weather is bad, ask any BMW driver" hahah
hhmmm, i thought i had seen that term some where!!,
i don't recall seeing crome wheels on a bmw or the black wheels with crome rim. i must admit though that the audis i see near me tend to have teenagers driving them with caps on!, and as per the research i am gethering you appear to be correct! i should get a Bmw if i want the best of the 2!, maybe i just came on here to reasure myself that the bmw i own is probably the better car! thanks for all your help, BauMdiWfan

BauMdiWfan can now be found trolling somewhere else on the Internet.

    Thanks for that.

Back to the video. As I mentioned at the first page it looked like the RS5 understeered way more than I have seen any B7 RS4 do. It didn't look right?

The RS5 understeers nothing like what the old RS4 did, none of the new platform versions do but driven like a d1ck then yeah it will understeer like it was shown to do on Topgear, but when driven properly like the Stig did then it shows no signs of understeer.

Look up the definition of Clarkson and it means 'small penis attached to huge dick'
Hanging the tail out is Vanity
    but choosing AWD is Sanity

Hi. I own an RS5, and picked up a couple of things in that "review" (or was it a clip from "The Fast & The Furious 2: Tokyo Drift"?)...

A couple of glimpses of the dash when Clarkson was driving showed Drive Select in Auto, not Dynamic. The soft exhaust note confirms this (exhaust in Dynamic is much louder). This easily explains the understeer, as well as the lack of acceleration in the straights.

Also, Clarkson comments on the braking but it does not appear that the RS5 was fitted with ceramics (you catch a glimpse of the black standards at about 3:53 in the first YouTube link in this thread - the ceramics are a distinctive grey). Meanwhile, it's being pitted against the full hamburger-with-the-lot Comp Pack M3.

Talk about setting the result up for a foregone conclusion!

And if Mr Sideways wanted to put the tail out, he should have just turned off the ESP. His understeer would've disappeared in a heartbeat and a cloud of tire smoke (just like he did when he spun and stalled the M3).

They had a regular M3 already at the track that day to serve as a visual aid for Clarkson's conclusion. Which means his conclusion was made before the test took place. This isn't the first time either. The 599 test for instance he told us what a great machine it was and then started complaining about how wide it was (after owning a Ford GT) and the ambient lighting (WTF) and suggested buying a classic Ferrari instead which they also had on the track.

I think JC is always looking for the entertaining angle (he was a motoring columnist, not a journalist) and sometimes doesn't let reality or common sense get in the way of that. It seemed obvious the understeer was intentionally evoked.

I'd buy the M3 though. The RS5 is too heavy.

TG reviews are only entertaining and funny, but in essence, specially with JC behind the wheel, they are BS!
Look only at every Porsche test done by them, everything you can hear is stupid comments about Porsches design...

IMHO, Fifth gears test of these two cars would be MUCH more reliable and with some useful conclusions...

Just have a look on what can be done with a correct setting: seems not to be the same car.

    http://www.automoto.fr/audi/photos-v...5-5838459.html

3500km on mine now. Very happy with it, bad points are the S-tronic in auto configuration (in dynamic mode, stupidely revs up for no reason, even when i release the throttle), and fuel consumption (over 20l/100km).

Nice video, shows what a poor review top gear did in all aspects... there was barely nothing on interior\exterior, drive select or any of the new stuff this car has..

i agree with the auto and dynamic modes, i find myself majority of the time in manual...
