    Post Need your HELP Guys......

    Hi Guys.....

I am thinking of getting a new car for my self for everyday use.....

    I am split between S5 Cab & RS5 Coupe.....

Please do remember that i live in LONDON an we do not have open roads to stretch the legs of some of the super cars on this forum....

I am still running my 06' RS4 Saloon but Coupe or Cab is No issue for me....

I know for some of you its a simple answer...RS5 but i have had one for the weekend and after 600 miles in it i have to say i was not BLOWN AWAY like i was with the RS4 when i first drove that....

The RS5 i drove had 20''wheels,Sports exhausts ,Bucket seats,Glass roof, white with black optic pack, sport diffs etc but NO C.ceramics... basically nearly £70k worth of car!!!

An i also have driven a S5 Cab for the weekend with everything on it as well sport diffs etc an it was worth about £52k but it was a great drive handle amazing braked well sounded great too an was very comfortable roof up or down... OK power was not the same but nor was it slow if you know what i mean its still a quick car with great control for a Cab!!!!

The S5 Cab is an amazing car i think especially if you think its nearly £15k+ cheeper here in the uk?

I know it does not have the same power or looks as an RS5 but i have already done the GREATEST RS
an i am not sure if i should take the plunge again with another one... Yes i will miss the POWER but i do not track my car at all.... but i do a lot of Europe trips every year an then i really get to use the power HARD an i think the S5 Cab with S-tronic box roof down an blipin up a few gears is just great...

I really would love to know what you Guys think an suggest to do so all your feed back will be great for my FINAL decision which will be in the New Year.....

    Thanks.....

    RS 5, allways...!

Yes, I know, in a ''real world'' you can do everything same with S5, but I just like RS 5 more in every way...

If there is RS 5 Cab', maybe that would be best solution, but without one, RS 5 Coupe gets my vote!

Two things... You live in London, so with that sort of weather, WHY would you ever buy a cab?

And... Your RS4 doesn't have the same looks or power as an RS5 either.

You will ALWAYS be disappointed not to have bought the RS5 - you know it or you wouldn't be asking.

    RS5, for sure!
My very first Audi... 2011 RS5, Phantom Black, 20" Titanium Alloys... sweet!
My other car's a Harley Davidson

Point 1: You should know that roof up in a S5 Cab is as good as a Coupe No wind noise no nothing......

Point 2: An as i said the RS5 does not have that feel for me like the RS4 did... first the rides a bit jumpy an in S-tronic sometime it don't feel RIGHT....

Point 3: I think i will be more disappointed if i bought the RS5 an i don't get on well with it like my RS4 i know its got a bit more power an tech but if you read some reviews about the RS5 its having problems putting on a good fight with an M3 Coupe which is about a good 3 years old now an that really disappoints me HARD!!!!!

So please Guys i need a bit more in put from you all because right now i am not getting much from you lot about these great cars.......

    Thanks....

OK - perhaps you need to consider buying an M3. Or, ask yourself why you would NOT buy an M3.

Do you track your car often? (No, according to your 1st post). If not, IMHO, the RS5 is a better option by miles. If you do, perhaps you'd have more fun with the M3's oversteer. Do you drive in snow, or wet, often? If so, RS5 quattro wins hands down. (Still waiting for an M3 vs RS5 review in real world conditions rather than perfect dry tracks, where - if you check the stats- the RS5 is still usually quicker.)

Re your Point 1, I don't see your point... If you're interested in putting the roof up, why buy a cab? My original point was, how often will you be going topless in London? (don't get me wrong - I've got nothing against cabs - I would SOOO love an R8 spider like your avatar).

Re point 2, did you drive it in comfort or dynamic? If you just want to cruise, don't use Dynamic. And get your head out of your RS4 experience - the torque curves are totally different. I don't know what you had before your RS4, but I'll bet it was a big performance jump from that to the RS4. You're not going to get that jump to the RS5 - it's a smoother evolution, though still a step up.

If you do want performance though, there is NO comparing an S5 (cab or coupe) with an RS5.

All comes down to priorities... If you were in the BMW market, you'd probably have the same dilemma with M3 vs 335.

    Good luck!

I own an RS6 and find myself also in the market for my "next" car. I considered the RS5 but feel it lacks the force the RS6 had when it came out (see car and driver's main article 2003 on king of the sedans: BMW M5, Jaguar X-type R, Mercedes E55 AMG, and Audi RS6. The RS 6 came out #1. I have driven it as my daily driver and each day feel exhilarated. I spoke extensively to my Audi RS specialist and he feels the same that it's not the step up when compared to the BMW M's or Mercs AMG's. The R8/10 is too expensive for me. I too am leaning towards the S5 Cabrio as a "not too expensive" yet "fun, daily drivable car". Just my own opinion.

I think you got me wrong mate.... If i was a fan of an M3 i would have 1 but it don't do it for me especially the interior it has NO CLASS compare to a S5 Cab/RS5.... The thing that bothers me about the RS5 is that is should SMASH an M3 to bits especially one thats been out for 3 years an trust me it don't as the M3 is pretty close to it in most areas as i have driven them both side by side an there not much in between them.... 4wd an great looks an a CLASS INTERIOR does not let it run away with the crown trust me.....

An what i meant when i told you that the S5 Cabs as quiet as a Coupe was if the weather goes bad it will still feel as great as a Coupe as BMW/MERC Cabs do not have this feel if you've ever been in the Cab Version of the Car.....

An yes i did drive the RS5 in Dynamic Mode and in all other modes to an even my individual setup mode but the car just never felt supply like a RS4 does an about your torque curves in the real world slip up 1 gear or take off and you wont realize were you torque curve went so forget about that mate... Yes the engine in the RS5 is different but hay it should its the new kid on the BLOCK...

An for you info the car i had before the RS4 was a 04' S4 344bhp Saloon and before the S4 i had a 03' M3 343bhp Cab an at the same time as the M3 i had an 02' S3 225bhp so that should answer your question about my power jump as i don't think 75bhp is to much extra power to handle for me after what i've been driving...

The thing that would have made me buy the RS5 with my eyes closed is if it was 3/4 levels up on the RS4 (not 1 as you say) an if it Smashed the HELL out of the M3/C63 in every area then that would be one hell of a great RS Car just like when the RS4 came out it did SMASH the old M3 and the C55 an whatever rubbish was out there to compare it with.... Hay it even gave the M5 V10 a run for its money... Yes o.k when the V10 got above 100MPH it got away but then the bend came up an the V10 is on the brakes hard and the RS4 just powered thorough it like WHAT BEND MATE!!!! BYE BYE....

NOW THATS A GREAT RS DONT YOU THINK GUYS.............................................. ...

    Reply for Sprint Blue.....

Mate i read that EVO Edition its one of my fave's...... That RS6 was an animal when it first came out that mad V8 with twin TURBOS it made those cars up against it look very SLOW its another great RS in my eyes.... I will never forget when i had the car for the weekend it was INSANE.....

I think you understand my view of the RS5 hence your leaning towards the S5 Cab as well....

Guys i would rally love some feed back on these cars it would be great of yourself to do so......

Well, that all sounds good - looks like you've been able to decide against buying an RS5, since it doesn't quite fit your criteria.

    COME OF IT MATE !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wish.... Its not that easy to rule out a car like this an just deciding against it..... It does fit my criteria hence its one of the cars i am thinking of going for but i hope you understand my point about the RS5 that it just don't tick all the box like i was expecting it to do especially being an RS.....

One waits so long for an RS model to come out an has high hope for it only for Audi to Damage its true heritage is not great........ It takes the edge off it for me....

    Fair enough. In that case, though I fear I'm not helping you, here's why I bought an RS5;
    1. Performance is great - in fact, outstanding
    2. Looks are simply beautiful
    3. Engine note is exhilarating
    4. Traction and handling are sensational
    5. It is nicely appointed inside, very comfortable
    6. You wont see many on the road
    7. Nothing else ticked enough of the boxes for me.

In making my decision, I didn't give a shit what motoring journo's said - made my own decision on what I liked. Also, don't really care about "RS heritage" - they could've called it anything they liked. I would have still selected it for what it is. It's not an RS4, nor an RS6 - don't care, didn't want either of them. Had to be an RS5.

    1. Performance is not great as you make it out to be if it can get away from M3/C63/Lexus iSF....
    2. Looks i agree with with you simply BEAUTIFUL....
    3. Engine note could have been a bit more vocal for with sport exhaust or not audi could have done better...
    4. Being a quattro it must live up to its name with it's handling an traction...
    5. The interior will give 100K+ cars a run for its money...PURE CLASS FOR ME....
    6. I think one of the main reason why you wont see many of these on the roads is simple due to Audi over pricing it HARD CORE....
    7. For me there's not many cars out there that tick all the boxes an nor does the RS5 from were i am standing right now....

The way i am making my decision is not by seeing what motor journalist were saying it will be my own decision but at times the RS5 just does not feel special enuff for me...

But hay you don't no i might just go an get my self one next year.....

very good point but joke aside and considering you points RS4 SM then I would definitely go for the S5 cab : great looking car, allround, powerfull, 2 in 1, good value for money, I would not hesitate longer.

    Good luck
