Most of us are waiting patiently for our RS3s to be delivered. Mine is due July/ August.

By September these pages should start to rock with information about how owners feel about their cars.

I was interested, but here where I live the price of a well-equiped RS3 is about 100000 USD...

That is alot of money for an A3, no matter what they put in it...

    100k US is plain wrong!

    40k GBP is bad enough.

Yeah I think there is an upper limit to what I would be willing to pay for a hatchback and frankly £40k was beyond that figure, regardless of how great it might be.

I am looking forward to that. I wonder if I'll get to drive it before mine arrives.

I opened a new thread on this very car. Not only do we here think it's fugly but it seems almost all of the BMW fans are of the same opinion.

    I rest my case.

The new BMW 1-Series a competitor? Are you kidding? If it doesn't even stack up well against the existing A3; the new one is going to kill it.

To be honest, it is rather sad to see a once mighty marque reduced to this. What a pathetic car: horrible styling, compromised packaging, and an interior devoid of any kind of ergonomic cleverness. Too little, too late, mate. If this is the best BMW can do, then I wonder how long it will be able to sustain its independence. NOT LONG IS MY GUESS.

Agree on this. From a company that was a benchmark in many ways to others, they have become such a joke. They don't lead in any way any more and least in terms of design. I can hear their cry for Chris Bangle...

Are they crying for Chris Bangle?

I blame him for the sorry decline of BMW design. If BMW is to have any hope of saving itself from becoming a marginal player or from being taken-over, then it has to hire a fantastic designer right now and create a new design language that stops trying to be deliberately provocative and that is understated, progressive and true to the brand equities of the past while looking to the future.

I owned an E46 M3 and that was a fabulous car. It looked superb, was beautifully made and went like a bat out of hell. I don't think they've made a better car since.

Why do I care anyway? I much prefer Audi and Quattro.

The car you mentioned was created when CB was in charge during 90'. He then took decision to go more controversial route. Adrian Van Hoydoonk (current design boss) was actually in charge from the start of 2000'.
