Rupert Stadler, Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI AG, about the big subcompact A1

Ingolstadt, December 14, 2009 – The Audi brand represents a unique passion for cars. A small, bold idea can turn into something big. This is the case with the Audi A1.

Its mission is clear: to condense all of Audi's virtues into a car that is less than four meters long.

Our goal with the A1 is a bold one: to repeat the success that we have enjoyed with the A3 in the compact segment. With the A1 we're opening another door into the world of
    premium cars.

I can care less about his music but as the report said, Audi is looking for a young audience with this car and sure they could have chosen a bunch of other stars but Justin stands alone in his class.

Add to that an all around nice guy that is currently spending millions of dollars so that he can fufill a lifelong dream of his father's to own his own golf course. I love seeing well-to-do rich kids hooking up their parents that got them where they are.

I don't have a problem with JT as such, and I recognise that Audi are aiming the A1 at a "younger" audience. However, it's a shame that a company with their pedigree feels the need to rely on a 'pop media culture' celebrity to promote a car which shouldn't have any trouble establishing itself in the market on its own merits.

Looks to have more design elements, especially proportions, with the Fiat 500 than the Mini. It looks rather similar, as expected, with the concept vehicle but I favor the interior design over that of the exterior. However, given the draconian safety regulations and restrictions placed on today's automobile designers and engineers, it is more a tribute to develop a reasonably attractive vehicle over a stunner.

I'm interested in seeing the technical specifications and other variants/colors emerge over the next few days.

    I love it!

Beautiful details. Not as good looking as the FIAT 500 but probably a much better drive and undoubtedly better quality, economy and reliability. Not as performance oriented as the Mini, but more space, greater comfort and without doubt better looking. All in all, it has both the 500 and Mini licked, IMHO.

Well done, Audi, this is a fantastic car. I am sure it is going to be a great success. Just waiting to see what 5-door version will be like in production form.
