Auto Zeitung - R8 V10 vs 997.2 Turbo vs GTR

Looks like a large improvement for Porsche. Good showing for the R8 too.

An Audi R8 in red isn't that nice, besides the numbers.

I look at the acceleration figures and WOW. The new Turbo is tearing the others a part, no other car with 500hp can match a 10,4 sec run to 200 km/h today...

    That is supercar territory.

But as someone said on another forum. $70k is a lot to pay for a Cobb AP's ($500) worth of difference and the handling still comes up shy.

Point made, but it's still a Nissan against a Porsche.

I'm wondering over the tyres, is the ones that the GT-R is rolling on here R tyres? Or just very sticky normal ones?

All the more reason to get it. Remember that this is a German mag.

The GTR only comes with one type of tyre now. They are also runflats. Remember that the 911 is also using a temporary overboost function (Sport Chrono).

70,000 Euros buys a lot of mods:

Did I also mention that the Mines R35 has lapped Fuji Speedway in 1:49 on street tyres, making it 7+ seconds faster than a stock R35.

I simply don't think a 997 Turbo can cope with this even if vastly more is spent on mods on top of a vastly more expensive car. How can you compete with 4s/minute faster than a stock GTR? That's Super-GT entry pace! It's 1s faster than a Mines R34 and they're not even done yet! It's a better chassis and no amount of time spent polishing a 911 and adding power will change that.

stock to stock 911 is destroying the other cars acceleration wise...

And that is what 99% of the buyers do, acceleration on the highways..

Dont wanna know what the new 911 gt2 does to the other cars.. (however he will be called)

Porsche stays porsche, now Audi have to show what the rs8 can do...

Good results for R8 in accelaration!
The 911 is very fast car with less than 500 hp but in low speeds in high speeds have other cars more fast but have more and more power!

I'd be surprised if a car doing 100-160kph in 3.6s only has 500bhp. I know that's what it says but even the 997.1 had more than 500. Think about it, 100-160kph in 3.6s. Find another car with similar performance and tell me what power-weight it has. We'll allow .3s for PDK vs manual.

porsche moved the game up and made the turbo more competitive in the handling department- its chief drawback up until now. good for porsche. this should keep it viable as a car for a couple of years. i am still a bit confused about the timing of this update in relation to the supposed all new 911 coming out in the next couple of years, but whatever.

i'd like to see a turbo vs italia vs lp560 vs R8 V10 vs SLS comparison asap.

better yet- i'd like to see a MANUAL comparison- turbo vs R8 V10.
    Past- A4, TT, S4

    Present- R8 V10

Looking at the Sport Auto results, those 3.6s are down to 4.0s, so it looks like the Auto Zeitung 911 was a little nippy.

lets see if nissan has the balls to make it with three pedals. i can bet you the 998 TT will have one. lets what nissan can really build vs the current fully automated go cart.

ps- i am so disappointed in lexus not making the LFA with a manual option.

    Thanks for the info!
Yes, the 911 does that but it's an option from the factory.

But it have been making 3's to 100 km/h and 10's to 200 km/h in tests before this one as well..

But I agree, that's an loss in performance, a pretty big one.

Well well... I'd go for the R8 anyway.

The same can be said of the 458...

Let it go Rodrigo, let it go, it will be ok.
