I theory, in a straight line yes, but wouldn't it equally take away stickiness in the turns (less grip)?.

I think this is the stuff the Patron GT3 Challenge guys run on now... made from orange peel/fennel seed or some such instead of dino products.
Most of the cars running the support races at Laguna/ALMS were able to keep in on the track with reasonable lap times (for arrive/drive warriors), so the performance must be ok.
