    regarding the bucket vs sport seats this is just choosing between stunning look, great body roll control and weight saving vs full electric, confortable but sporty as well and more weight.

    Do you guys recall the weight saving between both seats ? Maybe 15kg less per seat ? More ? If you add buckets and ceramic you should be close to 50kg saved right ? or am I a bit too optimistic

    Regarding the car overall feel (engine and chassis) I am shure I pretty much get how the ride will be/is knowing how the RS4 B7 is/was and te improvement made on the RS5.

    The biggest surprise will indeed come from the chassis and all the electronic goodies eventhough overall weight is a bit too much... When it comes to the engine it will be pretty much RS4 B7 like IMO. The double clutch geabox will of course add some confort/speed but I expect the engine to be pretty much the same animal then B7 RS4. So no big surprise for RS4 B7 (past) owners.

    Fab, the engine is not the same. A 4/5 of a V10.

    But please Qisha, tell us more !!!!!

    So i expect the engine to be more or less the same lazy one known on the RS4 up to 6000 RPM, but really explosive between 6000 and 8500

    That's what I disliked about the engine "sweet spot" in the E46 which got me back to boosted power. I'm not in the 6k+ band/rpm/rev range in daily driving. At 1950, yes.

    I really hope the engine is above in every respect believe me !!!!

    Like you did Ritchy and despite a close look to competition I really can't see myself choosing another car than the RS5, so I really really hope this car rocks. I don't want to give to much importance to all the initial reviews but I got confused with the "negative" words and "reported weaknesses".

    If this car really makes it (and each one has his own criterias) I am running to my dealer for a full option one

    Qisha ? Qisha ? Please, please

    You got a point here and I fully agree. Remembering my RS4 B7 which was a nice car with a nice engine but all in all I rapidly felt that the engine was not fitted into the right car chassis (avant, limousine). This is the type of engine that fits an R8 perfectly : sport car orientation, lighter, sharper, track oriented but will allround natural Audi feel.

    My dream is an RS5 with a 6.3 AMG equivalent character. This would be the perfect daily machine. Maybe the next RS4 with V8TT will make it.....

    I can confirm I can't imagine ordering my RS5 without the bucket seats...

    the only good reason fro not ordering one is if you are too fat to fit in it. with my 1m88 and 95 Kg I am really tight but fit in it. I can't go in a 996 GT2 bucket seat though for exemple. so that shows that these RS5 bucket seats are not too excessive neither. just teh right level of tightness I think. if its too loose then no point to have bucket seats neither.

    weight savings is surely a good point as you loose all the electroncic of the standard sport seats. but even with ceramics thjat will nto be 50 Kgs Fab.... maybe more around 20 et 30 Kgs max i think...

    I quite like the look of the M3 with competition pack in this colour. It looks more agressive than the RS5 in pictures.

    Dear Friends,

    take a look at the engine diagrams, this most likely answers the question. As you can see 80% of the engine torque output is achieved at 2.000 r/pm, the peak is reached between 4.000-6.000 r/pm. This is something you can "feel". The engine power output curve is linear growing. The pedal rate to power output factor has been improved for even better feedback.

    And yes, the engine has its roots on the V10 BUJ engine. You might want to note:

    V10: HP/liter = 101HP
    HP = 525HP
    Torque = 530NM

    V8: HP/liter = 107HP
    HP = 450HP
    Torque = 430NM

    If you bring the displacement face to face you get a ratio of 10:8... which did not happen by chance.

    I do not share the statement "engine does not not fit the chassis". Please explain, i do not see the point here.

    And finally if you take a look in the future, as you already know, you wont see a V8 within the premium B-segment class... but no V6 either...

    I can only recommend to Testdrive the RS 5 and make yourself a picture. Find out if the so blamed weight is something to worry about, feel the "bad starting performance" (or dont), and last but not least see if the car raises your emotions.

    Qisha
