Lets hope you are right but I doubt. How can AMS come out with 4.6 and someone else beat it by 0.5sec. With launch control there is no room for big differences, it is always the same mechanical process. Let's remember that RS4 B7 for journailst tests were probably "upgraded" power wise vs reality. My B7 couldn't have realised 4.2 and/or 15.4 no way.

Once again : with DSG box and launch control chronos can't really be improved (at least not significantly) IMO. Dont't forget also that RS5 is 1780kg at least which is more or same than RS4 B7...

I would also like to dream, but it's a fact: RS5 won't be much faster than M3 DKG.

Even, more or less the same figures would already be good news for RS4's owners.

If the RS5 can REALLY keep up with M3 DKG on a 50-250kmh rolling start then fine for me. I don't expect the RS5 to kill an M3 DKG which is a fast car. Logically it should be since 30hp more but more weight so breakeven should be the result BUT are the 450hp real on RS5 ? I doubt very much...

I am wondering : we start seeing more and more vids from lucky VIP RS5 owners. Is anyone of them around ? We should start getting real (non journalist) infos very soon isn't it ?

AMS numers maybe straight from audi or real test figures? I too see the RS5 as an evolution of the RS4. Seems to weigh about the same and simply have a tweaked motor and DSG. On paper this car should be just as fast as the M3 in a straight. maybe a bit faster. the C63 is faster than both. on a track it seems the RS5 will be a bit faster than the M3 and definitely faster than the C63.
    Past- A4, TT, S4

    Present- R8 V10

Audi figures are 4.6 0-100kmh wereas AMS got 4.5s so lets guess these are their own figures which again from what I have been used to see over years are always at the top end of the overall mean chrono times. So I don't expect much better from other reliable sources.

To come back to you point RXBG : If RS5 is IN REAL LIFE as fast as M3 DKG and better on track then I am a buyer.

LoL I've been reading this thread for a long time and I simply cannot notice how silly most of you are...

Will it be faster than C63 on a straight line? Will it be faster than M3 on twisty roads? Who cares about that?

Are you buying this car to enjoy it or to get bragging rights amongst your friends? Does that .1 second to 100 or 1 second to 200 really matter? Do you all drive full throttle constantly so that you'll notice any difference in daily driving?!

    Come on guys, seriously?!

You feedback makes sense man. I think that the more we talk about it the more we deviate from my and some others concerns. For shure I am not looking for 0.1sec or for drag races at the stop light (as already mentionned few pages back).

My original point is : Audi is finally coming with an up to date sport coupe (sorry S5) which can or is supposed to directly compete with M3 and sedan C63. The RS5 finally arrives to compete with 3 years older weapons from competition for a result that is very similar : Good product but lagging in most areas still.

Let's put perfs aside one minute : I think that at least 50% of all opinions I have been reading everywhere regarding RS5 are disapointed : steering wheel, auto box behaviour, torque, price, too comon body, etc. Most of us probably have had too much expectations ? I don't know.

For EUR 100k I need more than a nice interior and 4wd and I am not the only one here...

From your user picture it seems you own a RS6 (not shure) but would you be happy to now that the 5 year old M5 kills you for less money ? Not shure.

Sorry to repeat myself once more: I am an RS5 buyer for shure (I love the car) but performance wise it has to match its comparison points M3 and C63. I think this is a normal expectation for an RS buyer. Still a question mark on S-tronic behaviour in such car. My own test drive will be final judgment.

    Dear Friends,

to the best of my knowledge AMS achieved 4.8s/16.3s for the M3 Coupe 6-speed and 4.6s/16.0s for the M3 Coupe DKG.

As you might have noticed, the RS 5 tested was fully loaded. Bottom line, the RS 5 is supposed to be at least even with the M3 DKG in straight line... not talking about the Ring. I would assume a better outcome with a upcoming AMS comparison Test.

PS: 5 out 5 Stars is still something, no?
PPS: Power is for sure not the problem, if, then the gear ratio:

    1. Gear - Shiftpoint 8.500 r/pm @ 67 km/h
    2. Gear - Shiftpoint 8.500 r/pm @ 110 km/h
    3. Gear - Shiftpoint 8.500 r/pm @ 158 km/h
    4. Gear - Shiftpoint 8.500 r/pm @ 210 km/h
    5. Gear - Shiftpoint 8.500 r/pm @ 269 km/h (Speedlimiter for "no 280 km/h option" cars, 250 + 8%)
    6. Gear - Shiftpoint 8.500 r/pm @ 331 km/h (theoretical, "280 km/h option" Topspeed ~294 km/h)
    7. Gear - Shiftpoint 8.500 r/pm @ 399 km/h

    Qisha,

That is THE news. I am going to buy this AMS today and enjoy the reading (altough my German is not the best but still ok...).

interesting to see the gear ratios. They could have made them a bit shorter but quite nice to fly a 158 kmh in 3rd !!!

    Thanks Qisha,

Would it be possible to put them into perspective with M3 and C63 ? And comment them ? I am not very familiar with this data, but always happy to learn :-)

I am not going to convince someone about something, but i am allready convinced about the mighty RS5, is a very complete car for me.
If i remember well AMS, don't get best numbers like Evo or Autobild, remember the R8 V10 test from AMS?Those time for R8 were terrible, who would though that for AMS, the R8 could be "slow"?
Look at the fastestlaps.com and see how the best times of R8 V10 shows up.
Is the same thing with the RS5 Coupe.
It matter of the GPS device, weather, tyres, weight of the options, grip of the track, etc.
I could say for sure that RS5 IN TIME would really get 4.1-4.2s to 100km/h and 15-15.1s to 200km/h. Wait and see.
If i am not right, look at the times of the RS6 Saloon on fastestlaps, it has better times than even an M6!!!
By the way if i would have the money i would buy an RS5 blind folded...

Hmm... I think that you KNOW why is quattro Gmbh using that long rear ratios... Low CO2 and fuel economy...

Also, you must know that Sport Auto already received RS5 for testing. My good friend works for Motorpresse... Hockenheim Klein Kurs RS5 time is not impressive IMHO... M3 M-DKG Coupe beater? NO. TT RS manual beater? NO.

1780kg is a lot of weight.

BTW, Auto Zeitung tested RS5 also in tomorrows issue... 0-100km/h in 4.3s... Since lately all cars achieve their best accelerations in Auto Zeitung we can assume that 4.3s is the fastest 0-100km/h possible(with LC).

Regarding RS5 Ring time when tested by Sport Auto... My guess is between 8.09min to 8.05min with standard P Zeros. Remember 8.09min is time for TT RS manual...

    Dear Friends,

as some of you have asked, here are the ratios of the BMW M3 DKG:

    1. Gear 4,78 = 73,7 km/h
    2. Gear 2,93 = 120,3 km/h
    3. Gear 2,15 = 163,9 km/h
    4. Gear 1,68 = 209,7 km/h
    5. Gear 1,39 = 253,4 km/h
    6. Gear 1,20 = 293,6 km/h
    7. Gear 1,00 = 352,3 km/h
    final drive ratio 3,15

Some cars already available in Switzerland :

Like the black one, less the daytona (never been a fan of this color). There is also a metal grey available but no pics grrrrr I guess it is the Monza Grey. I will ask the guy for some pics if I have some time tomorrow.

First time I think we see an all black rear "difuser". As I alreay said I find the steel brakes too small on the 20" rims. For me ceramic is a no brainer. I also like the way the smaller front Swiss plate makes the front grill even wider and bigger. The swiss touch sorry guys

I would love to see it all black like this. Beautifull RS6 but too big and "lazy" for me...
