My guess is Geneva... Audi won't debut it here in the US due to it not being sold here... So that leaves out the upcoming LA and Detroit shows.

There will not be a RS3 based on the A3 8P, maybe on next Gen A3.
btw, rumour is that the next Gen S3 will have a 2.5 TFSI engine.

I'm thinking bad rumor on that one... most likely came from the same people that said the Golf R was going to get the 2.5 TFSI. Audi would be pissing off a lot of TTRS owners if that did come true. RS engines usually don't downgrade like that... I would expect a RS3 with it though.

    I don't see a problem.
When the next Gen S3 (2.5TFSI) arrives the TT(RS) will almost end it's life circle.

Time will tell... until it's official it's rumor.

Next S3 won't be here until 2012 at the earliest so that's a full 2+years in only one model. This engine deserves better.
Search and you will find the truth.

Not sure what that means. To me it looks like the front brakes would not fit with the rims on the rear and that they were the original stock rims so to get the brakes done the car needed larger rims.
    Must have been budget constraints?

According to swedish AMS the RS3 is put on ice until the next generation of the A3, due to high cost problems with the back wheelarches that needed to be wider.

Yes there will be no RS3 on the A3 8P base, until now the have produced only some proto types but the will not start a mass production .
The next generation will have the engine lengthways

Whoa...that's just a lame excuse. I would be more inclined to believe it has something to do with the take over Porsche and their entry level hatch everyone was talking about a year ago or so.

RS4B7, care to tell us why you believe the engine will be mounted that way ?

    Saludos,

    No it's not.
Why make that cost on a car that is almost out of production.

Wow, we're a bit grumpy today mate aren't we?

It's a lame excuse man, come on...body panels...if my memory serves me right, the C5 RS6 was about out of production when they launched it, and guess what...it did have wheel arches. But you know what? let's just forget about it...

What? You mean longitudinal mount, like the A4? Wow! That would be interesting. Your source, please?

I am sure that the next generation of A3 has to be very good to compete with latest Golf, which is excellent. But longitudinal engine seems a strange move as it would create a longer car.

    Dear Friends,

the new Audi A3 will be based on the latest modular transverse engine mount architecture. (as used within the VW group)

    A little outlook:

    - overall dimension changes are marginal
    - wider track
    - no NA engines
    - no 6 cyl engines or >
    ~ four model derivates

    Longitudinal is
