    R8 V10 super-charger / R8 V10 RWD?

    Hello,

does anyone know anything about upcoming enhancements for the R8 V10 e.g. super-charger like MTM/ABT offers for the V8 version?

Additionally i only found rumours about a RWD version of the R8...i really wonder if this is true and when it is going to be introduced.....if there was a RWD version i would have already placed my order....so for now i am unsure wether i should wait or go the porsche gt3(rs)/ferrari f430 scuderia way...if the rwd version of the R8 also would loose 200 or more kg that would be really awesome. I just love the 430 scud...at 1250kg its so awesome to drive.
Good....bad.....hey i am the guy with the RS6!

The only rwd Audi you will ever see is a racing version because it goes against Audi's marketing philosophy.

Well there is already the R8 LMS version for GT series. But rumour says there will be a street-legal one (as counterpart to a gt3-rs and alike). I would order the LMS but since its not street-legal its not really usable for me. I dont want this to be a track-only car. I already have gear for that.

Well, since there will be a Gallardo RWD in limited numbers, it could be that Audi will offer the R8 with a similar system and sell it in much bigger numbers to somehow justify development costs...

If going the F way, wait for the F450...

I would except any R8 with RWD to surface at end of life, might be many years down the line.

Also, if you're into tuning like the MTM R8 with Kompressor I suggest you test drive it before considering it. I'm not saying it's a bad car, but it's expensive and it's sort of taking a high rec concept into beefy toruqe instead.

It would surprise me a lot of MTM or Abt did a Kompressor for the V10, I would be surprised if they are break even on the ones for the V8 yet.

I guess the RWD of the R8 LMS and the RWD of the Gallardo Balboa is the same. I mean they only plan to build 250 of these Gallardo's so it certainly would never cover development costs.
So...they have the gear and knowledge....

Qisha...now i only would have to know for which car.... :-)
I mean...if the RWD version is more than 12 months ahead i would go the f or p way now. Once they start selling the RWD i'll move there.
So...do we see anything like that within 12 months....or at all?

I already drove the V8 kompressor from ABT...and i really enjoyed it. But it would have been even more fun if it was RWD and maybe a little lighter.

The F450 is apparently beeing introduced this year but i guess the first deliverys wont take place untill late 2010 or even 2011. And untill there is a scuderia successor it will probably even take longer...

    Erik,

i guess the MTM R8 and ABT R8 can easily be compared...and i guess they are almost the same. The ABT R8 was really sick in 2nd gear...alot of power there when i was turning onto the autobahn...wasnt quite expecting that kick-off
Anyway...you cant compare it to a 430 scuderia. I really want something from audi that can atleast compete with a 430 scud. If it can beat it...even better
Did you ever test-drive one? I just love the sound at 5k rpm....below that its a bit less noisy than a normal f430 but after that its just insane.

Am I the only member here a bit confused as to why Audi would need to develop a rwd version of the R8.

It's already shown itself it be among the best, possibly THE best overall supercar currently made, so why shift to rwd just for the hell of it.
