hi All RS6 fans out there, I am looking to buy one of the 2 RS6 Avant on the market here, both of them is year 2002, as the car is already 6 years old, I would like to get some advise from you guys what I should be looking out for? Anything of the car tend to just break down at this age?

    Good Man!!

Enjoy every moment of it, we all dooooo! Some people whine(jokingly) about the fuel consumption and costs, but it goes with the territory my friend ( besides try buying fuel in the uk- £1.13.9 pence per litre- $2+ i believe) just think about the joy and pleasure that is derived fornm that V8 propelling you to a position of elevated envy and awe, its worth every penny! Just look at the thread, "how your car makes you feel".

    Enjoy your stay!

For me, I have had no problems 44k miles-5 years (knock on wood), Just the normal running costs, a pretty good figure for the uk is approx £2000 per year. This would be dealership carrying out the work. This includes tyres and servicing, this year has been expensive for me, I have replaced the disks and pads on the front, it cost £1100, it can be done cheaper if you do it yourself, but for me, I like giving Audi my money, and then if I have a problem, it becomes their problem! I personnally prefer doingall my stuff through the dealer, as they REALLY know what they are doing , and lets face it at 170mph you dont want a wheel to fall off!

The cars are pretty much bomb proof mechanically, just get the suspension checked for oil leaks etc.

Personally, I see it more of a challenge if my wheels came off at 170mph ;D

I think the only advice I can offer is, DRC DRC DRC!!

Yes, DRC (dynamic ride control) is the awesome Audi suspension system. Well, awesome these days, back when our car came out, it can occasionally have problems.

Oh I am sooooo pissed off......... mine has failed, so much for knocking on wood.

Noticed a knocking, rear off side and front near side, knew straight away what it was.

Audi dealer confirmed it, booked in on Monday, ALL DONE ON MY EXTENDED WARRANTY, god I am glad i took out that option

Just as a side line, (courtesy car S4 cabriolet!!)
