    2010 S5 changes?

so my buddy is now finally convinced that his next ride will be an S5. as his audi advisor i've recommended to wait for the 2010 model year. we are operating on the assumption that the '10 will get the LED tailights, V6T engine, and the sport diff option. he plans on euro delivery and i'll be going with him (hopefully to be able to meet many of you guys).

can anyone else comment on my expectations? once confirmed he'd put in an order- and i presume- his car might be ready by late CY 2009....
    Past- A4, TT, S4

    Present- R8 V10

    S5 from late MY09-EU:

    3.0TFSI
    S Tronic option
Sport Diff option(only with Drive Select and Dynamic Steering/Active Dampers)

BIG downside-new engine is in comparison with current S5 4.2 FSI nothing specail soundwise, at least IMHO...

Yes but the tuning potential is greater

I don't know if I missed something but why is s4&s5 acceleration with s-tronic option 0.2 slower?

Because first and second gear on 7speed S Tronic are very short so, third gear is need to get to 100km/h. Second gear is only good for 92km/h.

Manual version is using longer second, third and fourth gear. 100km/h is achieved in second gear.

So, despite faster speed of gearchanging S Tronic is slower. Also, it is slower on the track since S Tronic gearing is not good for long corners.

Then it's not the kind of transmission for future RS models. There may be a low-rev limit for first gear to save the clutch but it should be able to handle up to 550nm. As far as I know, DKG or PKG are faster than their manual versions. What about 100-200 acceleration?

And will never have in a sportscar if you ask me, manual is the way to go. Love that Porsche wen't the right way with the CGT for example.

S-Tronic is perfect in a familycar, but in a sportscar... Give me a stick please!
