As for the stock wheels, they are garbage. Heavy cast wheels are unacceptable on a car in this price range. Forged wheels should have been standard. In my book Forged quality wheels would win out over cast wheels any day. Looks help, but light and strong forged come first in my book.

Are those rear lights smoked? Personally I think it's not my taste.. nevertheless wheels look great!
Did you do some engine mods?
I think car tuning should focus on rims, suspension and engine...
a car who needs more than these 3 things isn't worth buying ...
but, taste is different so smoking rear lights is ok

Where do you call to get this delivery option from UPS...

Looks great! But bigger pics in better quality would be very nice!
Actually those tails look like the Hella OEMs for the C5.
I have a set on my Avus RS6 and the quality is 100% OEM. If you look on your factory lights you will also see Hella.
For what its worth the lens material and design allow full lighting to come through the critical areas for excellent lightning. While at the same time the non critical area looks tinted.
I hope that makes sense.
bluehinder could i see a few photos of your ferrari ? that would be very kind of you !
I may have given the wrong weights - fronts are 39 lbs (17.73 kg) and the rears are 47 lbs (21.37 kg).
The difference in weight between the stock rims and tires (which have exactly 1/2 of the tread worn away) and the Dymags w/new sneakers on them (same thing - PS2's) was 3 lbs (1.36 kg). It was the same for the front and rear, interestingly enough.
They day I put the wheels on, I also tinted the tail lights and the marker lights. I used a smoked self adhesive film that I got from the place that tinted the windows. I don't know the name of the product, as I was given a piece just large enough to do the car.
I can pull it off w/o any damage or issue to the car.
I've always had this dislike of chrome, hence the idea of going the opposite direction with the darkening of everything and removal of the chrome rings and R8 logo. I still have a blacked out front grill to install and I will eventually get around to ceramic coating (probably a dark flat gray) the tail pipes.
I realize that the mods I've had fun doing are not to everyone's taste. Some will like it, some will not. That's all good in my book. I'm glad that we don't live in a cookie cutter world.
Try to remember that we all enjoy our rides in our own little way. Perfect example: There's a black R8 here in the Cincinnati area that, from what I understand, was the first to be sold by one of the dealerships. The guy's had the car for almost a year and he has 400 miles on it now. I don't understand why one would own a vehicle like this and keep it as a museum piece.
I purchased my R8 on June 3rd and I rolled over 17K on it this afternoon. It's obvious that we enjoy our cars in an entirely different light.
I've not done any engine mods, nor do I plan to - at least for a while. I am getting ready to put the Revo setup in my RS6, so this will be my first step into the engine mod world. I want to see what sort of changes and such this makes on my old car before I start messing w/this one.
I'll get better pix up soon. Realized that I took them on the worst resolution setting in my camera. The weather sucks right now, so the first day we get sun and I can get the car washed, I'll make sure I take more and better pix.
Thanks for making this a fun thread guys!
An R8 and an RS6 in one garage: It doesn't get much better!
No, I lost 1.36 kg per wheel.
Dymag fronts: 39 lbs/17.73 kg, Stock fronts: 42 lbs/19.09 kg
Dymag rears: 47 lbs/21.37 kg, Stock rears: 50 lbs/2.73kg
The tread wear of the tires on the stock wheels was .100" (2.5 mm). The PS2's on the stock rims have right at 6K miles on them.
I wonder how much the rubber that has worn away weighs?
