Maybe they did it on purpose (throw in a "5", "accidentaly") just so they'd start all these rumours and make us think...

I just cant see the RS5 having a biturbo V10, it just doesnt make sense to me. For the R8, it is obvious were getting the same V10 as in the LP560 (albiet tuned differently). However for the RS5, i can only imagine a 4.2/4.4L V8 or mabe a a 4L SC V8.

is it easier to cool a SC engine than turbo engine? what if they put a little SC in the RS4 motor? could they make about 475 hp and a good 400 of torque and also make it the new base R8 engine? that just *might* leave room for the V10 R8.

It is easier to cool an SC engine because it is plugged to the normal radiator. You don't need the intercoolers like on a turbo engine. so less space required...

As for the SC on the RS4 engine, trust me it is not that easy...

motivemag interviewed some high up people in Audi re: the SC vs TT tech for the engine applications. turns out that the TT method is still the forced induction of choice for anything larger than a V6 that makes more than 350 hp.

hence, i still feel sure that the RS4/5 engine will be a very torquey and yet fuel efficient engine. the only question i have is how will they cool it in the R8 engine bay? perhaps they will put the turbos on top of the engine so they can dissipate heat more easily and perhaps also put in some venturi vents. i also just had an idea. with this engine the mods will be tempting (and easy in the RS4/5 app), but in the R8 it will be a problem to cool it if the boost is increased with a chip. the owner will run into problems there. i could only imagine a stage 1 mod pushing over 500 hp and making 450 of torque!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :MTM:

who would need a V10? :king:
