Pictures!!!
That's good news if it's correct. Everything I've read claims the S6, S8, and RS6 engines are practically the same minus the turbos. I haven't seen anything definitive for the R8 V10 though.

The sign under the engine in the last picture says 'RS5' as well as 'RS6'. Are we to assume therefore that the 5.0l V10 Biturbo FSI has been officially confirmed for the RS5?

you must be dreaming. thats a "6" not a "5"
~~~And God did ask the stones... wants their Quattro to drive... the stones answered..." no we´re not hard enough".~~~
Actually that does look like it says RS5. Man now that would be a turn up for the books if the RS5 got the 5.0v10 Bi-turbo, just imagine what those guys at M5Board would do.
Probably ban anyone bring it to the events.
Search and you will find the truth.
the signs say the same thing- in hungarian on top and german on ze bottom.
by all accounts- the RS4/5 will have a V8 of some sort. likely turbocharged.
i for one believe the difference between the LP-560 engine and the V10 in the R8 will be the same as that between the S6 and S8..... negligible. 99% the same in power output.
Past- A4, TT, S4
Present- R8 V10
here, i made it bigger with paint, that's what come clearly obivious. I personally think, that this is a 5.... so the RS5 is going to get a V10... stunning!!!
Vorsprung durch Technik
no it's not a 5!
Check the "O" of Biturbo in the first row and then in the second...
The First one is hungarian the second in German...
If this Engine would be used in 2 cars as you say, there would stay in every Row...Audi RS5, RS6 as you can see at the picture with the 5.2 Liter V10 from the S6 and S8
^^^ I would agree with ZeroCool but I've looked at that pic zoomed-out and zoomed-in and it is most DEFINATELY a "5".
I cant believe this. Is the RS5 going to receive the V10? Can anyone give more details?
stop dreaming guys, we will not see this. it just that a 6 and a 5 looks similar but its a 6......
Maybe these pics have been photo-shopped very well?
Zoomed, B&W, sharpened, rotated...I'd say it's a 5...look how the top of the number is straight...
Looking at it now, I think it's def a "6". It is very very nearly a "5" but I think the point ZeroCool made is valid about the hungarian and german translations.
C'mon - are we trying to create an "urban legend"?
Yes, the bottom number might be mistaken for an 5, BUT every aspect shouts it is a 6 on the plate:
1. SAME information on the plates in hungarian & german
2. everything we have heard about the future RS5 engine
3. Audi going downzising route (NOT upsizing: 3.0 TFSI in)
4. you really think a V10 Bi-Turbo fits into the B8 plattform without any problems?
5. not mentioning weight of the V10 engine
I agree with you on all those points; in fact they pretty much sum up my thoughts when I first saw the photo. But I still reckon that's a 5 and not a 6.
