The 3.0 V6 TFSI supercharged engine weigh 180+ Kg, the 4.2 V8 200+ Kg if i remember correctly.

Hmm... 333ps engine should be in new S5 Cabrio.
Regarding weight... Look at current S5 weight... New S4 sedan is heavier...
According to my info new V6 is less then 20kg lighter then 4.2 V8 in current S5.
It is 20kgs lighter when you include all of the fluids. But that not the important stuff, when is this engine coming to the S5 and when is S/Tronic and Quattro3 getting included.
Search and you will find the truth.
from another thread- i believe MY 2010, whose production starts rather early in CY 2009. likely will coincide with the boosted MY 2010 version of the 335i- ~330 hp.

that means the S5 will get the 3.0TFSI engine with 333hp too, and the 4.2l would be replaced by this engine? it would be better when they bring out the engine with a facelift. that would be wiser. will the S5 get the quattro 3 (sportdiff) too?

I can´t confirm that the V6T comes with the new S5 Convertible.
At the beginning there won´t be new engines for the A5/S5 Convertible. It comes with the 2.0T, 3.2 FSI and the V8 4.2 for the S5.Also the Diesel-Engines are the same: 2.0 TDI and 3.0 TDI.
Perhaps there will be a change later on with a facelift but not at the begining.
The S5 V8 also comes with the brand new 7-Shift S-Tronic designed by Volkswagen in Kassel / Germany !
I also wanted to see the new V6T instead the 3.2FSI but it unfortunately won´t be.....
What about the 2.7TDI?

Once again, that´s not true ! There won´t be a S5 convertible with V6T. It comes with the "old" V8 4.2 FSI and the "new" 7-Shift S-tronic definitively...

remember there are two 3.0T V6 engines- the A6's and the S4's.
i have "heard" that the V8 option across the S4/S5 line will be replaced by the new S4 engine (333 hp). and that the current uplevel A4 3.2 V6 engine and the 3.2 V6 A5 engine will be replaced by the updated A6's 3.0 V6T (290 hp).
the only model of the A4/A5 lines to get a V8 will be the new RS4/5 and it will be a high output version of the new 4.0T V8 we have been waiting for.

I agree with you about RS 4/5 engine, but I doubt that there is a chance for two version of 3.0 T engine to be oferred at the same time in A4/5 and S4/5 line up...
IMHO 3.2 will stay, and 3.0 T will replace 4.2 in S5. Only question is when... Will that start with new S5 Cabriolet or with complete A5 ''facelift''.
It comes with the A5/S5 facelift, soonest ! :asian:

regardless, the 3.2 A4 engine will have to be ditched in the next 2 years at the latest. it may be offered as a fwd powertrain option only in the A6 and the A4, but given that the base 2.0 can be upgraded easily by audi to make 230 or 240 hp to compete with merc, etc.... by the 2010 MY, the 290 hp engine will be the next logical step up, esp. since the 2.0 generates 258 of torque.

The A5/S5 is a new car with a new production line and Audi will use the new 3.0TFSI V6 supercharged engine with ± 360 hp in the new S5/S5 Cabrio.

I will repeat myself and say that I don't know when S5 will recieve 3.0 T engine, but I know that there want be one on offer in A5 line-up...
But, than again, interesting development in this car segment is very possible. There are roumours about future Mercedes plans for upcoming CLK, the thing is, Merc' is planing to re-name CLK into E class coupe and to move it up scale to compete with BMW 6 series, also suposedly Merc' is planing to introduce new C class coupe, a car that will compete with Audi A5 and BMW 3 series coupe. Where all that lives A5...?
Will Audi, in case that Mercedes make all this plans true, move the A5 up and make room for some new coupe, A4 Coupe, maybe...?
In that case Audi better move up the A5 and make room for a little bigger TT with longitudinal engine layout.
