    Angeles Forest Run

Gang, as we had so much fun on the Julian run, not to mention Richard not being able to make it out, we've been talking about putting together another light spirited cruise through some of our back-country roads.

Several have mentioned the Angeles forest drive as being particularly fun.

I'm quite interested in seeing what the Glendora Mountain Road looks like and they both seem to be basically be about the same thing.

Anyway, click the links below and take a look:

    Glendora Mountain Road

Also, let's maybe put some dates around when we'd like to head out. How about the last weekend of March? Maybe the 29th or the 30th?

Very interested .. but March might be pushing it for me.. just went to glass on my spoiler mod / then tweaking and the mold process. Also cutting the hood and mods to the front end.
Fingers crossed... it will be done in time.

Headshot, what about April? Richard and I are just talking about late March to get the conversation started but I'm sure we're all available on the weekends given enough advanced notice!

please dont do this on the "front" of angeles crest.. unless you're actually just going for "a cruise".. be smart, investigate..
also, angeles crest and glendora are NOT the same.. as well as glendora being a bike haven and a bust.
i've driven both these roads for near 20yrs.. there are good and bad ways to go about it.

silvant - more thoughts please! On the lateralg site they mention that there is a bit of traffic on the angeles roads and that the CHP love to camp out there but what do you mean?

If I'm free whenever you plan it, I'd be happy to join again. Julian was fun.

Morning all, how does April look for everybody? I know that somebody mentioned above that the first weekend or two is bad but what about the 19th or 26th?

Either 19th or 26th work for me. Yes, the CHP does hang out at the the entry to Angeles Crest waiting for crazed motor bikes and Audis (past experience). You have to drive very slow, do not tailgate, and for those without front plates or overly tinted front windows, you can be picked off like a sceet shoot if you are too aggressive. However, with a mature crowd like this driving serious Audis (in the upper price brackets), I think we can avoid the pitfalls of the A4 tuner crowd (Audizine and Socal Euro Audi). Plus, the size of our group will be small enough not to warrant too much attention from the CHP. There is a great resturant at th base of Angeles Crest Highway and Foothill Blvd. in Glendale where we can meet, organize, and get a nice breakfast (and coffee for us addicts) before we head out. Once we get into Angeles Crest area you can open up.

Yeah... i think i may be done with mods by then to. (wrk is killing my time lines). Did you ever nail down a route Duck??? I had the feeling there were issues with law enforcement in that area??
Still the route looks pretty twisty - should keep things down abit.
A good scanner is never a bad idea.

I was around Taft / Buttonwillow recently - there are some wide open straights up there with no traffic and plenty of range for detectors ... havent had the beast that way but will wrk. on a course for that area in the near f.
