13s from 160km/h to 240km/h. Fairly decent. Faster than other testing has led us to believe.

Gauging that the R8 takes 10s to get the 160km/h, then judging on this video the R8 will do a standing 0~300km/h in roughly 53s. I don't know how this compares to a de-limited RS6, RS4, 997 Carerra S or even new M3 but it's still pretty impressive.

    It only reaches 290km/h.

    However, a 23s 0-240km/h would be about 1s shy of a 997 GT3!

I know Autocar tested the R8 and it's 0-150mph time was 26s something, roughly 0.5s slower than both the RS4 and M3. I would has thought the GT3 would have been much quicker than all three of these.

Autocar made 22s with the GT3 and 26s with the R8. I was only judging by this video, but he may have been wind-assisted or down a slight hill.

Dudes it is a speedometer. You really can't compare that to magazine times. There can easily be some 10km/h mistake and also video angle can ad some more mistake.

Also the movie speed can be a factor.

btw, i'm a big fan of the R8 but not his engine.

This Harge H50 Coupe with 550 hp V10 sounds 10x better.

Audi bring it on, 5.2 V10 FSI or TFSI.

Even these S6 and S8 sounds better if cleared of the sub noise.

I was led to believe that Audi and BMW speeometers are accurate to about 1 or 2km/h????

Definetly not true in speeds above 200. Around 100 it seems to be about 1 or 2. In 250 5-15...

Speedou is correct, it's a percentage thing. The faster you go the more the clocks will be out, unless it's been calibrated like the Police speedos have.

That's not always the case. A Koenigsegg CC8S speedo is out by 2mph at 150mph and only 1mph at 200mph. Tyre expansion and all sorts play a part.

I know that there is lots of so-called normal cars which are capable of giving the R8 a bloody nose in a drag race but that's not really the point of this car. It's all about the handling, the looks and the quality of the controls, if it were a watch it would be a Breitling, so what if a Casio can keep better time.
