    R8 on grass

Had the opportunity to take a good long look at an R8 without having a ton of people all around it. This was a press vehicle. Also got a ride in it, quite the car. It doesn't give you the sensation that you're actually traveling that fast when you're riding shotgun but it definitely eats up the corners with ease at high speed.

Good Picture, nice use of DOF to bring out the car.

Now there's a car that seems to be traveling fast even when stopped.
It is a nice looking machine! Good shot.

What are those bumpers on the front edges of the grille ?
We dont have those on European cars ? Are they owner added or do all American R8's have them ?
They look a bit shit to be honest let alone what they do for aerodynamics...

Great quality photography / editing though !

Thanks for the comments guys. Seen another one of these on the road, I had to drive by slowly to gawk at it again

The bumps you see on the front bumper is to make the car meet our 8km/h front impact collision requirements here in Canada. Judging from where these "tumours" are located, it's probably to ensure that the headlights remain functional in the event of a 8km/h (or less) collision. TT has them also. Really messes up the looks unfortunately.

What lens and camera did you use?

    Edit:

Wow those bumper addons suck big time. Ugh.

First one, Sigma 70-200EX (200mm, F5.6), and the second one with an 85 1.8 wide open.

Yeah those bumper add-ons sucks, but guess it's better than having no R8 here.

PS. One thing I haven't mentioned is that with these lenses alone, you really can't get this shallow DOF with the whole car in frame. So the trick I use... set the exposure, focus manually and set the shutter speed and the appropriate aperture. Then take a lot of photos of the cars and surroundings at a close range. At such range, the whole car cannot fit in the frame, so quite a few photos were taken. It's like a jigsaw puzzle, take all of the images and use something like autostitch to combine all of the individual images into one. The first image with the barn is actually a crop of this one:

Largest I could stitch without the program puking on me is 53MP!
