You know, I think we all do actually perhaps save Superstar

It is going to be a maginificent machine, but I would still get the RS4 I think, this is more my kind of car .

I know what you mean. If it came with awd and have a better designed interior, the outside design was de-bangled and it had a big single grille, then I think I would buy one ............ hold on a minute, if you did all these changes then you basically have an Audi RS4 in front of you.

    Don't get me wrong...

    ...RS 4 is No. 1 !

And I expect that from the future RS 5, i just don't see reason for all that discharge of bad emotions towards new M3...

Numbers will tell who is who ... !

Totally agree with you Andy, but the RS5 will have to be something very special as we all know BMW are in the near future being out a M3CSL again and this time round I doubt we will see the small power increase that the last one had over the M3, if the new one kicks out 420hp then the new CSl will have 450hp and will no doubt lose a few kilos along the way.

I think if the new RS5 isn't able to comfortably beat the new M3 than it will have no chance of competing with the CSL and to do this it will have to have at least 450~460hp and a lot of torque, but maybe Audi don't see the RS5 as it competitor. I still hoping for a turbo version of the RS4 engine more so than a v10, even if it fits.

With RS5, Audi must admit the race against M3 if he didn't do this with S5. And as you said, it will need much power to do this. And don't forget that Audi would also have to admit it's "bad luck" when Audi and BMW has the same power and weight and we are slower again That's why i said before the best power plant for RS5 would be a V8 Biturbo and 500hp.

Its strange that you guys think the rs5 need 500hp to beat te new 420hp m3.. if that's the only way to win this battle.. than audi isnt just jet at bmw level dont get me wrong (i think they are at bmw level and higher) I think 450 is enough for the rs5 and please let it be a little lightweight.. not with 500hp or something like that. show that we can beat the new bmw m3 with "only" 450 than audi is really on fire and for the csl mabye a rs5+

I will answer what I believe about the chances of a RS5+. If Audi only give the RS5 a up-rated version of the N/A RS4 engine then we will see a 430~440hp limit and the chances of a RS5+ with this engine choice will also be limited. If this is the case then Audi will have to find a major weight reduction to improve the car because something around this power level will be the limit for reliability and driveability.

But if Audi go down the forced induction route then the sky really is the limit, you want 500hp .... easy, you want 530hp ..... sure. That's the difference between the two options. With this option, the weight though still important isn't THAT as important as it is with a N/A engine.

If Audi get the standard version spot-on with regards to the handling, balance, steering feel and braking then giving it more power only improve your options with the throttle and make for a better car.

First of all, I think that Audi has to continue it's ''journey'' on its own path...

Doing that for some years now, we have this fantastic RS 4 and even more amazing R8, probably, two best driving 4x4 in the world !

I'm more than sure that future RS 5, and RS 6, RS 4.. for that matter, will be best at what is most important, EVERY DAY REAL WORLD USE !

M3 CSL is GREAT, no discussion there, but with CSL you are ''king of the track'' if you know how to drive it, with RS 5 (4, 6...) you are ''king of the street in 90% of cases !

I agree that Audi could offer some more ''track oriented'' versions of it's car, maybe with ''plus'' addition to the name, but we are all aware that luxury and brute power is what sells cars today, and Audi needs and wants just that, to sell cars !

I think for rs5 they really want to beat m3.. that would be great for audi every person know what a m3 is.. everbody loves it and its one of de greatest cars.. a few people know about the rs5 till he beat the new m3 than audi would be for the "normal persons" no underdog anymore.. we know better but most people won't this is one hell of a battle
